Ahead of their new album, hip-hop duo Tha Dogg Pound (Daz Dillinger and Kurupt) have premiered two new tracks exclusively on Gala Music. The two songs, “Finesse” and “Baggin You Up” featuring Snoop Dogg and October London, were released on May 21 in partnership with Death Row Records, the independent music label owned by Snoop Dogg and founded by Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, The D.O.C.,and Dick Griffey.
The release follows the drop of “Smoke Up,” another collaboration between Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop that marked the duo’s first release since their 2021 studio album DPG 4 Life.
Their upcoming album W.A.W.G. (We All We Got) will drop on May 31 and will be their first album under Death Row Records since their debut album Dogg Food released in 1995. This will also be their first album with Snoop Dogg since 2005.
Though they each started as solo artists, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt found major success in the 90s after combining their musical prowess to form Tha Dogg Pound. Despite their triumphant debut, the following years found the pair undergoing a series of separations, collaborations, diss tracks and feuds before reuniting under a truce in 2005. Since then, the duo have released five studio albums together.
With their release on Gala, Tha Dogg Pound aim not only to create buzz for their new album but also to solidify their status as innovators in the music industry. Gala is a streaming service that launched in 2022 with the goal of creating a free streaming platform that would compensate artists directly with revenue proportional to the amount of plays their music receives. The streaming service utilizes blockchain technology and has become a favorite of both upcoming and established artists including Jordin Sparks, NBA Youngboy, and Waje.
In a press release announcing the new tracks, Gala’s President of Music Leila Steinberg said, “Gala Music is at the forefront of ushering both established and emerging artists into Web3 and introducing them to the many opportunities that exist in the space. And we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Death Row Records and a legendary Hip-Hop group, Tha Dogg Pound, on their first Web3 releases!”
“Finesse” and “Baggin You Up” are streaming now on Gala.
