Zendaya’s Angelic Odyssey Premiere Makeup Tutorial

The Odyssey premiere makes it to the concrete jungle! Straying from her previous bold eye, Zendaya stepped onto the NYC red carpet in a “natural glow.” Her makeup artist Ernesto Casillas, focused on that subtle, ethereal greek goddess inspired look. During an interview with Bazaar, Casillas mentioned how they “wanted the interpretation of this to be beautiful skin. Sunkissed, like she’d flown too close to the sun, and very, very, minimal makeup.” Casillas also reveals that the actress’s illuminating base is achieved by “flooding the skin with moisture.” For the NYC premiere, Casillas utilizes Prada Beauty to give a lasting dewy appearance that is fit for the goddess of war herself!

Specific products used in the creation of this Angel’s beauty included Prada Beauty Touch Cream-to-Powder Soft Blur Longwear Blush ($42) and Prada Reveal Skin Optimizing Foundation ($70). According to the Prada’s description of both items, this formula is designed to “refine the skin in three dimensions, including tone, luminosity, and texture to reveal soft-filtered skin in-real-life.” Casillas also told Bazaar that during the application of these filter-worthy luxury items, “the key to creating a natural look is working in light layers.” Then of course N Crowd, finish off with a naturally plumping sheer gloss.

How To Achieve the Look

Now this is the part we have all been waiting for, N Crowd. Since Zendaya has stepped in front of the cameras in her “no makeup” makeup look, TikTok is erupting with many recreations the minimalist style. It’s safe to say the “no mascara” trend permanently lives in the shadow of Zendaya after this movie premiere (LOL). One of the top videos recreating the trend belongs to Reyhan Betul, a Turkish creator known for her beauty content. I list below some essential steps from Betul’s video for recreating your own ethereal aura.

Step By Step Guide

1. Start your look with a hydrating and glowy base. In this example, Betul is using the Clinique Sun-Kissed Face Gelee ($38.91 at Walmart). This product is an oil free gel (perfect for us oily girls!) that gives the skin a natural looking radiance.

3. Next is blush, blush, and more blush. There is something so adorable and innocent about having flushed cheeks! The tutorial from Betul utilizes Nars Hot Escape Cheek Palette ($49). Remember that to achieve that angel-like appearance, make sure to apply the blush to the highest point of your cheek bones and blend down.
4. The final essential step to this goddess-inspired look is highlighter. Use this for the inner corner of your eyes and to enhance the high points of your face. We absolutely love the Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil ($43 at Sephora). For this look, we recommend shade “How Many Carats?!” to achieve a pearlescent finish.
