On February 23, 2026, Victoria Beverly Walker, also known as PinkPantheress, made history at the Brit Awards. She attended the prestigious award show in hopes of meeting other artists, and instead was awarded with a life-changing honor.
The Brit Awards is an annual award show that highlights some of the United Kingdom’s most successful musicians. Artists such as Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Amy Winehouse, have all received many awards for their music and performances. The award show has been running since 1977 and has honored artists of all kinds.

The United Kingdom’s First Female Producer of the Year
One category that really stood out this year was Producer of the Year, and when PinkPantheress was announced as the winner, the room erupted. The artist made history by becoming the first woman ever to win the award. At the age of 24, she was also the youngest musician to receive it.

PinkPantheress is known for her combination of upbeat rhythms and heartfelt lyrics. Her most popular songs include “Pain,” “Illegal,” and “Boy’s a Liar.” She has over 25 million listeners on Spotify and has worked alongside musicians such as Ice Spice and Zara Larsson.
In an interview with BBC, PinkPantheress stated, “I guess it’s bittersweet that I’m the first one, the first woman, to get it. As young as I am, it feels almost a bit crazy. Like, I’m not legendary enough to be receiving it…”
The Birth of the Pantheress
PinkPantheress noticed her love for music in high school, and eventually evolved into a producer as she transitioned to college. She utilized apps like GarageBand and SoundCloud to create her music, and eventually began posting on TikTok. Songs like “Illegal,” “Just for Me,” and “Break It Off,” grew widely popular in just months of her releasing them.

PinkPantheress took over TikTok as her songs swiftly filled new trends. Fans began to creating dances tutorials that went along with her music, as well as lip-syncing to her lyrics. Her music is a unique experience for many as her energetic beats fuse with her relatable lyrics.
The artist was born in Bath, United Kingdom, and was raised by her Kenyan mother and English father. She proudly highlights her ethnicity in interviews, making sure fans are aware of her true identity. PinkPantheress continues to be an amazing role model for young artists as she remains authentic and honest.
British Women in Music
Prior to PinkPantheress winning Producer of the Year, the category had been previously dominated by men. In the past, only a few other women had been nominated, but none had ever won.
In an appreciation post, the artist said, “I feel amazed that I was nominated. To be the first woman is insane to me, since this has been around since the 70s, this particular nomination.” PinkPantheress was honored to have received the award, yet baffled that she was the first woman to have ever won.

Kate Bush has been the only other individual female nominee for Producer of the Year. She was nominated in 1990, but lost to Dave Stewart. Others, such as Alison Goldfrapp and Heather Small, were nominated in the past but were recognized as part of a group.
Stories such as PinkPantheress’ continue to arise, inspiring other young artists to push through the difficulties and pursue their passion for music. A spotlight has been put on female artists as more female artists are recognized worldwide. PinkPantheress may have been the first female to receive the award, but she definitely won’t be the last!
