Jennifer Hudson and Common have fueled dating rumors once again after the Oscar-winning actress and singer opened up about her love life, confirming that she is in a new relationship. The news comes after months of dating rumors with rapper Common.
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, Hudson was asked about her relationship status. While she remained coy about her partner’s identity, she did confirm that she is very happy.
Hudson and Common were seen over the weekend enjoying a night out together at Joe’s Pub, where they attended a performance.
Hudson, 42, looked stylish in a white jacket over a black ensemble, while Common, 51, kept it casual in a cream button-down shirt and khaki cargo pants. The two were photographed walking into the venue hand-in-hand, seemingly confirming their relationship status.
This PDA comes just days after Hudson’s interview on CBS Mornings. When asked by Gayle King about her “very nice relationship with someone who shall remain nameless,” Hudson responded, “I am very happy, yes,ma’am.”
“Boo’ed up? I think it’s more sophisticated than boo’ed up… Definitely not an entanglement. That’s for sure,” she added.
Hudson and Common first sparked dating speculation in July 2022 when they were seen filming their upcoming action-thriller Breathe. In the film, the two play a married couple, which further fueled rumors of a real-life romance.
At the time, Common was tight-lipped about his relationship status, but he had nothing but praise for Hudson when he spoke to Al Roker on TODAY. “I’ll say, speaking of Chicago, she’s a Chicagoan, this amazing human being—I’ve always been inspired by her,” Common said.

Hudson, on the other hand, has been more hush hush when it comes to Common. In a 2022 interview with ET, she doubled down on the fact that the pair are just friends.
“People create their narratives of it and it’s like, OK, you know, how you feel. We shot a film together and he played my husband. We gotta eat in between those moments.,” she said.
While neither Hudson nor Common has officially confirmed their relationship, their recent hand-holding outing and Hudson’s coy comments suggest that they are indeed more than just friends.
If the rumors are true, this would be Hudson’s first serious relationship since her split from David Otunga in 2017. The couple has one son together, David Jr., who is 13 years old.
Common, on the other hand, has been linked to a number of women over the years, including Erykah Badu, Serena Williams, Taraji P.Henson, and Angela Rye. He has no children.
