In a video posted to Instagram on Friday night, Jamie Foxx gave his fans a health update after being hospitalized for an undisclosed medical issue in April.
“I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through,” Foxx said in the video. “And I know a lot of people were waiting, you know, or wanting to hear updates.”
Foxx did not disclose any specific details about his diagnosis, but he said that he is “on the mend” and “coming back.”
“I want to thank the people that let me work,” Foxx said. “I’m able to work, so I want to thank the people that let me work.”
Foxx also thanked his fans for their support during his health scare.
“I want to thank everybody that’s prayed, man, and sent me messages,” Foxx said.
“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.”
Foxx’s health update comes during the release of his upcoming film, They Cloned Tyrone. The film, which also stars John Boyega and Teyonah Parris, is currently streaming on Netflix.

In the video, Foxx also said that he is “excited” to get back to work and “make some more movies.”
“I’m excited to get back to work,” Foxx said. “I’m excited to make some more movies. I’m excited to make you laugh. I’m excited to make you cry. I’m excited to make you think.”
