One thing is for sure, he’s not Justin Hartley. Although both actors are very easy on the eyes and lovely to look at on our screens, there’s something about Glen Powell that we can’t get enough of. If it’s not his dreamy blue eyes, then it’s that killer smile, if it’s not his smile, then it’s his sense of humor and ability to over-perform in a rom-com. Perhaps it’s even his vulnerability about love and relationships. Either way, Glen Powell is slowly becoming the next generation’s lead actor in film, especially romance comedies, and it looks like he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. So, move aside Ryan Gosling because Hollywood’s new heartthrob and hidden gem is about to take over.
When Glen Powell First Came to Our Screens
If you’ve been following the Texas native since the beginning of his career, then you know his acting goes as far back as Spy Kids 3D: Game Over. However, he made his debut on FOX’s dark comedy series, Scream Queens as frat boy Chad Radwell, which also starred Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Nick Jonas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Grande and Lucien Laviscount (another Hollywood hottie, but this article isn’t about him). Following Scream Queens, Glen Powell slowly made his way to our big screens in the theaters. Remember that gorgeous man in Hidden Figures that Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson helped send to space? Yeah, that was Glen Powell starring as John Glen.
It wasn’t long after Hidden Figures the 35-year-old would start starring in major films including Devotion, with Jonathan Majors, Top Gun: Maverick, with Tom Cruise, and his most recent successful romance comedy, Anyone But You, with Sydney Sweeney. He’s also starred in another romance comedy with Zoey Deutch called, Set it Up, which can be streamed on Netflix. However, the actor has been hot on the block since Top Gun: Maverick, and now it seems like he’s everywhere! If he’s not on screen then he’s getting hot guy fit with his dog, Brisket, or spending time with his family in Austin.
Glen Powell on Love, Relationships, Family and Health
Glen Powell was recently featured on the front cover of Mens Health where he dived deep into his exercise and fitness routine as well as his love life. The actor also recently joined his family in Austin, Texas for holidays where they all planned a family date to see his latest hit film Anyone But You, which by the way he revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that his parents made a cameo appearance.
While we love a good Texas family man, there’s nothing more attractive than a man who’s not afraid to be vulnerable. The 35-year-old recently opened up about his breakup with ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris during an interview with Insider. According to People, when asked about the rumors and on-screen chemistry with co-star Sydney Sweeney, the subject came up. The charming actor shared that at the time of filming Anyone But You in Australia, he and then girlfriend, Gigi Paris, decided to call it quits for good.
“I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff,” he shared. “It was a lot easier for Sydney to lean into something like that because she’s in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she’s very happy. So it was a little harder for me.”
A source told People that the couple had been on and off since the peak of his career after Top Gun: Maverick. Although the actor is now single, we think it’s safe to say that he may be focused on his career for a little while. Given his recent success in leading roles, he has been nominated for The Comedy Movie Star of the Year at the People’s Choice Awards for his outstanding performance in Anyone But You. You can catch the PCA’s on Sunday, Feb. 18 on NBC, Peacock and E!
