Since today is National Chicken Wing Day, I wanted to share a recipe that is quick, absolutely delicious, and addictive. One night I cooked these wings for Family Game Night, along with some Buffalo Wings. Let’s just say that the pan of Thai Chili Wings disappeared within a blink of an eye. The family thoroughly enjoyed them so I decided to share this recipe with you.

    WASHING CHICKEN

There have been several debates about whether washing your chicken is necessary or how to wash your chicken. I want to start off by saying whatever you do: DO NOT WASH YOUR CHICKEN WITH BLEACH. Bleach is an irritant to the skin, the mucous membranes, and the gastrointestinal tract. Accidental ingestion of 1-2 mouthfuls can cause minor mouth and throat irritation, stomach upset, and vomiting. So, I do not suggest using bleach when it comes to mixing it with food. The only time bleach should be used in the kitchen, is for cleaning purposes. I also do not recommend washing your chicken with any kind of liquid soap. Just do yourself a favor and keep any cleaning products away from food. The best way to clean your chicken is simply taking a big bowl, add some cold water, and a few drops of lemon/lime juice. Simple!

    Sticky Sweet Thai Chili Wings

    Chicken Wings

    • Chicken Wings (Make sure you clean your chicken)
    • Salt & Pepper (To Taste )
    • Vegetable Oil

    Thai Chili Sauce

    • 3 tbsp Ketchup
    • ½ cup Soy Sauce
    • 1 ½ tsp Sesame Oil
    • 3 cloves Garlic (Chopped)
    • 1 cup Honey
    • 1 bottle Sweet Thai Chili Sauce
    • 3 stalks Green Onions (use the white part/green part for garnish)
    • 3-4 Red Chili Peppers (depending on your spice level)
    1. Wash your chicken with water and lemon/lime juice.

    2. Make sure chicken wings are completely dry.

    3. In a medium pan add vegetable oil and heat.

    4. While your pan of oil is getting hot, season the chicken with salt & pepper. Do not use too much salt, as the soy sauce will add some saltiness to the dish.

    5. After seasoning the chicken, prepare the sauce. Add ketchup, say sauce, sesame oil and garlic. Stir. Until the ketchup starts to mix in with the soy sauce.

    6. Add the remaining ingredients: honey, bottle of sweet Thai chili sauce, and green onions (white part only). Cook on a medium heat.

    7. The pan of vegetable oil should be at the right tempurature to add chicken.

    8. Make sure chicken is dry before adding it to the hot oil.

    9. Drop each piece of chicken into the pan. Make sure you do not over crowd the pan.

    10. Cook chicken for about 5 mins on each side or until no longer pink in the middle. It typically takes 10-20 mins for my chicken wings to finish cooking. You can tell that they are done once they are golden brown.

    11. Remove chicken from oil and place on a cooling rack.

    12. Cool for a couple of minutes.

    13. Place wings in a bowl and then pour sauce over them. Mix to coat each wing.

    14. Once throughly coated, plate chicken. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions (green part)
