British royalty Prince Williams and wife Kate Middleton were also in attendance alongside major stars such as Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and more. For those who missed the BAFTAS, here are the main highlights:
Oppenheimer Conquers Awards Ceremony… but is “Pranked” by Youtuber
With a whopping seven wins, Oppenheimer proved victorious during the British Oscars, taking home trophies for best film, leading actor (Cillian Murphy), supporting actor (Robert Downey Jr.), director (Christopher Nolan), original score, cinematography, and editing.

During Nolan’s acceptance speech for best film, which was led by his wife Emma Thomas, Youtube prankster Lizwani infiltrated the stage, awkwardly holding back giggles in the background. BAFTA issued a statement saying, “A social media prankster was removed by security last night after joining the winners of the final award on stage we are taking this very seriously, and don’t wish to grant him any publicity by commenting further.”
@metro.ents An intruder invaded Oppenheimer’s acceptance speech at the @BAFTA awards. 😨 During the speech, which was lead by director Christopher Nolan’s producer wife, Emma Thomas, YouTuber “prankster” Lizwani joined the cast and stood behind them in silence. Throughout the speech, Lizwani failed to stand still, and at one point was seen tucking a white wire into his pocket. BAFTA responded to the incident, saying: “A social media prankster was removed by security last night after joining the winners of the final award on stage.” “We are taking this very seriously, and don’t wish to grant him any publicity by commenting further.” 👆🏼 Oppenheimer was the big winner at the award show, taking home even prizes including Best Director for Christopher Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. 🏆 📲 Follow us for popular entertainment and more. #bafta #oppenheimer #cillianmurphy #christophernolan #awards #intruder #shocking #youtuber #prank #prankster #liveprank #livetv #lizwani #barbie #chrisnolan #nolan #films #news #musicnews #filmnews #movienews #popculturenews #publication #realitytv #watch #react #greenscreen #film #filmtok #movietok #awards #oscars #grammys #emmys #musicnews #celebnews #greenscreen #presenter #filmnews #tvnews #goldenglobes #british #media #genz #video #popculture #popcrave #popbase #stanculture #stan #instagram #twitter #online #digital #viral #trending #breakingnews #follow #like #funny #meme #viralvideos #tiktok #memesdaily #humour #duet #music #relationship #drama #popular #entertainment #2024 #metro #fyp #foryou #foryoupage

Poor Things Also Sweeps the Floor
Directed by well-known and idiosyncratic Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things won many things, including leading actress (Emma Stone), make-up and hair, costume design, production design and special visual effects, trailing behind Oppenheimer with five wins.
Michael J. Fox Ends the Night with a Tender Surprise Appearance
Back to the Future star and 80’s icon Michael J. Fox concluded the awards by presenting Nolan with his award for best film, insistent on standing up from his wheelchair for the announcement. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease during the 90’s and has since remained relatively reclusive from the public eye, making his appearance at the BAFTAS a delightful surprise for many.
The audience erupted in a standing ovation for Fox, with social media users in tears of joy seeing representation of disabled individuals on stage, especially coming from their beloved nostalgic idols.
