For the next few days, Phoenix, Arizona is the mecca of basketball as the epitome of WNBA talent gather for the 2024 All-Star game. This year, in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the women’s basketball Team USA will be competing against the WNBA All-Star team. The weekend of events kicked off with the orange carpet on Thursday night, but will also include various skills competitions, fan events, and the showcase exhibition game on Saturday night.

The women pulled their best looks together for last night’s lavish event. The League uses an orange carpet for photoshoot events to match the oatmeal-and-orange-colored ball used in gameplay. Los Angeles Sparks guard Lexie Brown and creator and producer Hannah O’Flynn hosted the carpet for the WNBA and Bumble.

So what were the biggest fashion trends of the night? Variations on the power suit — and a few shades of pink, of course. Here are some of the best looks from the 2024 WNBA All-Star orange carpet.

Kayla McBride

Minnesota Lynx Guard, Team WNBA

Paired with a top knot, McBride wore an Off-White jacket and slacks. Despite this being her fourth All-Star appearance, she said that because of a recent trade, this is her “first time here representing the Lynx … to be able to say I’m one of them is huge.” On the convergence of the W’s biggest talents? “The competition is fun.”

Jonquel Jones

New York Liberty Center, Team WNBA

Jones paired a vintage-inspired Louis Vuitton vest and a white collared shirt with Burberry pants and Gucci platform loafers. She was going for a “preppy” look, but also wanted something that she liked and would stand out. JJ praised her teammates and colleagues when she told hosts Brown and O’Flynn that “any team can beat any team in this league.”

Diana Taurasi

Phoenix Mercury Guard, Team USA

The eleven-time All-Star — the second most appearances behind Sue Bird — paired a white short sleeve button down with black pants, a slick bun, and black and white shoes. She told hosts, “When you get older, you just need things to put on and leave.” Beyond the fashion, Taurasi expressed excitement for the weekend’s competitions; “Whenever you get all of us together, it’s always a special time,” she said. “It’s always a pleasure to be around everyone.”

Brittney Griner

Phoenix Mercury Center, Team USA

Dressed in all black, Griner wore a Purple shirt with custom boots, Minimal pants, and a David Yurman chain. Her hair was styled in the natural afro that she’s been rocking recently. Praising Taurasi, who is nearing retirement, Griner said, “I’m just happy I get to share the court with DT for so long … it’s going to be emotional.”

Chelsea Gray

Las Vegas Aces Guard, Team USA

Gray wore a light gray short suit with a white button-down underneath. The suit set was decorated with bejeweled bees to go with the orange carpet.

Sabrina Ionescu

New York Liberty Guard, Team USA

Ionescu donned a Good American blazer and shirt with an Alice and Olivia mini skirt — and all of the pieces came right from her closet. She paired the fit with a Chanel clutch. “I would say my style is comfortable, chic,” she said. “And I take after Stewie,” Ionescu added with a laugh when she saw New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart standing next to her.

Natasha Cloud

Phoenix Mercury Guard

Cloud wore a black denim utility vest with black cargo pants; her fit came from a number of places including Zara, Uniqlo, and Doc Martens.

Hailey Van Lith

Texas Christian University Guard

The college phenom was dressed in an Alexander Wang “short, crop, blazer moment.” Her slicked-back ponytail was straight from a YouTube tutorial.

Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever Guard, Team WNBA

Fever rookie and first-time All-Star, Clark donned a mesh light brown Armani dress with a Versace bag and shoes, a Tiffany necklace and bracelets, and Cartier earrings. With her status in the basketball world, much has been made of her perceived rivalry with Chicago Sky forward rookie Angel Reese. However, Clark was quick to express her excitement to play on the same team as the Bayou Barbie.

Kelsey Mitchell

Indiana Fever Guard, Team WNBA

Mitchell donned Fendi head-to-toe, in a Kellie Ford custom light brown two-piece, down the orange carpet.

Aliyah Boston

Indiana Fever Forward-Center, Team WNBA

In a red leather corset crop top with a matching trench coat and pants, Boston touted the black-owned brand that fitted her, ÖFUURË. At 6’5″, the player was also excited that the outfit was tall-girl-friendly and she could wear heels.

Napheesa Collier

Minnesota Lynx Forward, Team USA

In a long black dress with a deep neckline, Collier was “keeping it kind of classic but elevated, you know, with the bling.” Her journey has been hard the last two years. “Coming back after having my daughter was really hard,” she said. “So putting in the work is important.”

DeWanna Bonner

Connecticut Sun Forward-Guard, Team WNBA

In an elegant long dark dress with red butterflies, Bonner admitted to her ignorance in the fashion world. “Don’t know exactly what I’m wearing,” she explained. “I have a stylist.” She’ll be going head-to-head with her fiancée, Alyssa Thomas who will be playing for Team USA this year.

A’ja Wilson

Las Vegas Aces Center, Team USA

Wilson wore a black mesh dress, which “kinda signifies a basketball net.” One of Wilson’s legs was exposed just like how she dresses on the court.

Brionna Jones

Connecticut Sun Forward, Team WNBA

Jones wore an ankle-length green Hanifa dress because she “just wanted a pop of color,” while she walked the orange carpet.

Dearica Hamby

Los Angeles Sparks Forward, Team WNBA

“A pink, blackish, purpleish, hot pinkish outfit,” Hamby’s daughter Amaya said, describing her mother’s outfit. Amaya did say that she had better style than her mom in an endearing moment.

Sophie Cunningham

Phoenix Mercury Guard

Cunningham stunned in a Barbie-pink mini Fashion Nova dress with cutouts on the sides. She paired the dress with a Louis Vuitton necklace and Guess shoes. She said, “We never get to get dressed up like this, so why not go all out?”

Jewell Loyd

Seattle Storm Guard, Team USA

“I don’t wear pink often, but when I do, it’s for All-Star,” Loyd said of her fuzzy pink sweater-and-shorts combo.

Nneka Ogwumike

Seattle Storm Forward

Ogwumike stepped out onto the orange carpet in an outfit from the CPLUS SERIES, “as seen on the April cover of Vogue China,” and Nordstrom Rack shoes she found three hours earlier.
