3 Simple Things To Help Build Your Brand

So you want to start a business? First off, congratulations! That is a huge step and I’m so proud of you, you world-shaker, happiness-maker, and one-of-a-kind boss babe (or boss dude). Now what? Starting a business can feel all kinds of daunting, but it doesn’t have to be scary! Today, we’re talking about the three simple things you need to help build your brand and set it up to thrive.

Create a logo that elicits a YAY!

A logo may seem like no big deal to you, but trust me. It is a very big deal! You’ve got 50 milliseconds (that’s .05 seconds!) to make a first digital impression. Consciously or subconsciously, your brain is making snap judgments on the colors, typography, and complexity of your logo to get a “yay” or “nay” from your inner Judge Judy!

Invest in a graphic designer who can take your brand identity and give it a face. When looking at customer reviews, look for comments like “mind-reader” and “I didn’t even know how to verbalize what I wanted, but the designer was able to take my thoughts and create a logo that was better than anything I could have dreamed up!”

Think of your website as your virtual home!

Your home is a reflection of who you are, right? (At least– the version of you that you want to reflect to the world, after your laundry’s been shoved in closets and dirty dishes stashed in the dishwasher just before friends arrive.)

Think of your website as your virtual meeting space, where first impressions are made and friendships are solidified. Incorporate your brand’s color scheme, think hard about the language you’ll use to maintain consistency, and check that load time. The last thing you need is a new friend knocking and deciding to leave because it took too long for you to open the door.

Get social!

Running a virtual business can feel like walking around a haunted house. You know your customers are there… but you can’t see them! Turn those ghosts into girlfriends (or guyfriends!) with your social media presence. I can see the overwhelm from here, but don’t panic! You don’t need to be the next Kylie Jenner or devote your entire life to excelling at Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Clubhouse, and Snapchat.

Who is your ideal customer? Where do they hang out? You wouldn’t wait around at McDonald’s if you’re hoping to attract the type of client who loves to eat filet mignon, right? Social media is the same. Invest your time and energy where your customers like to hang out. Craft killer content (or hire someone who lives and breathes social) and engage with those who engage with you. Don’t ghost your customers by leaving comments unliked and DMs left on read!

Armed with a logo, website, and social media presence, you’re on the right path to building your brand and setting up your business for success from the very start. We’d love to know about your journey. Tell us about your business in the comments and let’s support each other!
