Since promotion for the new film Challengers began back in March, Zendaya has stayed in the headlines for her impeccable style throughout the movie’s press run. As the film’s lead, Zendaya portrays Tashi Duncan, a tennis star-turned-coach who must navigate the interwoven professional and personal relationships between herself, her husband, and her ex-boyfriend. Though the film’s plot has caused buzz in its own right, Zendaya’s looks have only bolstered excitement for the new release.
Working with longtime friend and stylist Law Roach, Zendaya has managed to seamlessly weave direct and indirect nods to tennis into high-fashion looks for every phase of the press run. In honor of the film’s release this week, we’ve narrowed down our five favorite Zendaya looks from the Challengers press tour so far.
1. London Premiere
Though there’ve been so many good looks to choose from, Zendaya’s outfit for the Challengers premiere in London was certainly a standout. Covered in sequins and embroidered tennis racquets, the custom white gown by Thom Browne made several nods to the film’s sporty theme. The dress’ structure is reminiscent of a 70s tennis dress, complete with a collar and a pleated skirt featuring mesh elements. She paired the dress with a simple white pump by Louboutin and understated jewelry.
2. L.A. Press Conference
Zendaya’s light pink gown for a press conference in Los Angeles was equally as stunning. With dramatic cutouts showcasing her midriff, the gown by Jacquemus put a modern, sexy twist on a more traditional 60s mod dress. She topped off the look with matching pink pumps, glowy makeup, and lots of ribbon accents – on her shoes, in her hair, and at the low waist of her dress.
3. Rome Photocall
Zendaya’s outfit for a photocall in Rome may be one of the most talked about from the press circuit, and for good reason. Though her sequined Loewe dress was gorgeous, the real star of the show was her shoes. Also Loewe, the white pumps featured a tennis ball on each heel, one of the most literal interpretations of the film’s theme so far. With minimal jewelry and a chic half-up hairdo, Zendaya proved yet again her ability to rock even the most surreal of styles.
4. Monte-Carlo Masters
With her look for the Monte-Carlo Masters, Zendaya reminded everyone that her style is just as good on a red carpet as it is courtside. Wearing a full Brunello Cucinelli look from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Zendaya stunned in a cream maxi skirt paired with a white, cable knit sweater layered over a button-up shirt. Natural, glowy makeup and off-white heels finished off the classic look.
5. Sydney Premiere
It’s the look that started it all; Zendaya’s custom Loewe dress for the first Challengers premiere in Sydney set the tone for an incredibly stylish press run. The green, sparkly dress was already eye-catching, but the shadow of a tennis player serving a ball printed onto the gown set the look over the top. Zendaya wore matching green shoes and added hints of green in her eye makeup but kept the rest of the look simple, wearing only a pair of diamond earrings and a ring to accessorize.
