In the “elbow” of the beautiful Cape Cod lies the quaint and breathtaking Chatham, Massachusetts. The town of Chatham has become a beloved staple in the Cape Cod experience because of its many popular local businesses, incredible seafood, lovely beaches, and awesome marine life. If you’re not already convinced, here are three reasons why Chatham should be your next weekend getaway!
The Local Business Scene

Chatham is known for its incredible small, locally-owned restaurants, shops, and businesses! If you make a turn down on Chatham’s Main Street, you’ll find all kinds of stores lining the street, from adorable boutiques to authentic New York-style pizza joints. When you stroll down Main Street, be sure to check out The Black Dog for the cutest Cape Cod-inspired clothes and Chatham Squire for the best pub grub.

Beyond Main Street, there are countless unique spots to experience like the delicious Corner Store and the beautiful coastal houses that are all decorated with vibrant flowers like hydrangeas.

Seafood and Marine Life
Chatham rests along the Atlantic Ocean, hosting some amazing sea creatures, and serving some of the best seafood around. Whether you are on a beach, or walking down the Chatham Pier Fish Market, you are more than likely to see or even interact with marine life. The Pier Fish Market has become a terrific seal-seeing spot as they swim through the pier, putting on a show for all to see. As for seafood, the Pier Fish Market also offers a delicious and relaxed dining experience next to the ocean.

For a more upscale dining experience, Viera on Main is one restaurant you can’t skip! Viera on Main is owned by Chef Ben Porter who grew up on Cape Cod and uses only local fish and seafood for his dishes. You can’t go wrong when deciding on a seafood restaurant in Chatham.

The Beaches
Cape Cod is the home to many beaches like Nauset Beach and Cow Yard for the thousands of people in the summer crowds. Nauset Beach is known as the “surf beach” to locals because of the massive waves that attract many surfers, but it is also known for the amount of sea life that can be seen from the shore. More specifically, sharks have been known to travel close to the shore to prey on the seals that swim close by.
Cow Yard is part of a public boat ramp, but it also crosses into a private beach that welcomes walkers and passersby. Cow Yard has a beautiful view of coastal houses, boats, and the ocean which is complimented by Cow Yard’s peaceful vibe. Besides beaches, Chatham offers special spots like Goose Pond for great uncrowded swimming.

See You There
Vacations in Chatham can only be described as charming, peaceful, and an escape from the noise of life. Whether you prefer sitting on the beach being kissed by the sun or enjoying exploring local treasures, Chatham, Massachusetts has something for everyone. So when you’re planning your next getaway, remember the joys of Cape Cod and the adventures that await you in Chatham.
