Tyler Perry is continuing his popular film series that asks the nagging question, “why did I get married?” with a third installment. Perry teased the movie back in July with a photo of the table draft’s cover. His caption read “I’m just gonna leave this here,” leaving anticipating fans excited.
Why Did I Get Married is a series that follows eight friends, each of them paired off, as they reunite for a yearly marital retreat. The point of the vacation is to catch up with one another and build on their relationships. However, that’s not the way it goes; each couple has issues within their relationship that reveal lies, secrets, and betrayal.

What Can We Expect to See?
The third movie will take place in Italy, where the couples reunite at a wedding celebration for the daughter of Marcus (Michael Jai White) and Angela (Tasha Smith). According to Variety, the group will reflect as they realize their children have grown to be just like them. This realization brings back the question of why they got married.
Most of the original cast, including Jill Scott and Sharon Leal, will be returning to reprise their roles. Additionally, a new character joining the group is Oscar-nominated actress, Taraji P. Henson. Henson has starred in four films directed by Perry, most recently the psychological drama, Straw, so it was no surprise when she joined the ensemble cast.
One important character missing from the newest installment is multi-platinum pop star, Janet Jackson. Jackson’s character played a key role in the franchise as the glue holding the chaotic group together. Her character, Patricia, nicknamed “Perfect Patty,” wrote a book based on her friendships that was the major narrative element. Patricia’s ending was left to interpretation, as a shocking twist of fate left her single in the sequel. Fans were disappointed upon finding out the author would not be joining her friends in Italy. Many were hoping to get a proper ending to her story.
Janet had better be in it, and The Rock better be her new husband. Otherwise what was the point the ending of the previous one??? https://t.co/ytlBTUXCVM

Where We Can Expect to Watch
Production for the film began in late September, with photos of the cast together circulating social media at the beginning of October. It is set to release on Netflix, as part of a deal Perry struck with the streaming service. According to Netflix, the deal gives him the creative freedom to write, produce, and direct features.
The first film in the installment was stressing as a viewer, but it brought forth a number of viral moments and hilarious quotes. Most details regarding the film beyond the log line are kept quiet. However, with this dysfunctional bunch, the continuation will be sure to have an abundance of drama.
