The Spice Girls Reunite at Victoria Beckham’s 50th Birthday Bash

The Spice Girls had an iconic reunion at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday bash on Saturday. Joining a star-studded guest list, Mel B (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) all showed up to the event in London to celebrate their former bandmate. Much to fans’ delight, the group even broke into a spontaneous performance of their 1997 song “Stop.

In a clip uploaded to Instagram by Victoria’s husband and former soccer player David Beckham, the group is seen performing the song’s original choreography. “I mean come on,” reads the caption under the video that has received over 1.6 million likes.

A staple of the late 90s music scene, the Spice Girls released their first song, “Wannabe” in July of 1996. The track was an instant hit and went number one in 31 countries, topping the charts throughout the summer.

A few months later, the group released their first album, Spice, which made history as the best-selling album by a girl group with 31 million copies sold worldwide.

Despite their success, the band only released three studio albums before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2000. In 2007, the group reunited for The Return of the Spice Girls Tour to promote their first Greatest Hits album. They revived the group again for their Spice World – 2019 Tour, though Beckham did not join this time around due to conflicting commitments.

Since the group disbanded, each of the original members have gone on to establish impressive careers of their own. Though they all tried their hand at solo music careers, Chisholm found the most success in music, solidifying her status as one of the U.K.’s most successful female singers and DJs. Mel B, Bunton, and Halliwell have all starred as both contestants and celebrity judges on several reality shows. Beckham has made her mark in the world of fashion, starting her clothing label in 2008 and a beauty brand in 2019.

Beckham expressed her gratitude for the reunion on X, sharing images from the party with her former bandmates. “The best gift to be reunited!! Thank you to all my friends and family for celebrating with me,” she wrote.
