The premiere lands almost exactly 20 years after the first film premiere. The event was in such high demand that streaming giants Disney+ and Hulu offered a live stream of the red carpet.
Some of the most memorable looks from the night came from the returning stars reprising their roles in the 2026 sequel.
Meryl Streep
The film follows Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she nears retirement. She teams up with Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) once again to face off against one of Priestly’s former assistants: Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt). Fans look forward to the fashion, drama, comedy and heartfelt callbacks to the 2006 original film.
Meryl Streep channeled her inner Miranda Priestly on the red carpet in a Givenchy Fall/Winter 2026 red cape dress. Matched with black heeled boots, large sunglasses and black opera gloves, she fit the bill as Runway Magazine’s tyrannical Editor-In-Chief.

Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway returned to the red carpet and followed the theme of the film: red. Wearing a custom-made strapless red Louis Vuitton gown with platform high-block heels, Hathaway glowed with a classic Hollywood look.

Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt’s ensemble was all drama for all the right reasons. The gown, a Daniel Roseberry piece from Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2026 collection, was styled with beautiful Mikimoto pearls.

Stanley Tucci
Stanley Tucci opted for a traditional silhouette: black velvet blazer, gray trousers, black dress shoes and a gray tie. Though subtle, Tucci made the look his own alongside his co-stars.

Other stars made their appearance on the carpet as well. Actress Simone Ashley and comedian Caleb Hearon, who appear in the film were also spotted on the carpet.

“Runway” singer Lady Gaga made her presence known in a black Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2026 mermaid gown and glossy platform stilettos.
One of the most talked-about appearances included Anna Wintour, former Editor-In-Chief of Vogue, who inspired Streep’s character.

This happens following an April 7 Vogue cover shoot featuring both Wintour and Streep ahead of the film premiere. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, the iconic duo blend fantasy, reality and fashion industry in an interview with Vogue.
May 1 is the set theatrical release for the revival of the cult classic. Attendees are praising the film for its highlight of female empowerment and, of course, spotlight on the runway.
