A pair of striking red stilettos with pitchforks replacing the heel can only mean one thing… June 30, 20th Century Studios dropped the news on Instagram that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in production.

The original cult-classic premiered on June 30, 2006, with the sequel announcement coming out on its anniversary. The first film follows Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, as she navigates the cutthroat nature of the fashion world and pursues her dreams as a designer. Andrea works under Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, which has turned out to be one of her most beloved roles by both Streep fans and fashionistas alike.
The most exciting part of it all? Each of the original cast members is set to come back to reprise their roles. This includes Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci, who is known and loved for his character, Nigel. Andrea’s boyfriend, previously played by Adrian Grenier in the original, has not been announced to return, so it is assumed that Andrea will have a new path set for her in the sequel.

Speaking of romantic partners, a new plot development for Miranda’s character is that she will be in a relationship in the second movie. Playing her husband, Kenneth Branagh, is joining the cast. We can’t wait to see that dynamic play out on screen!
The details surrounding what the sequel’s plot will consist of are still hush-hush as of right now. There have been rumors circulating that the second movie will focus on the decline of the fashion magazine and show Miranda coming to terms with that. Blunt’s character is reportedly going to go head-to-head with Miranda, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed.
This is about everything we know so far about the long-awaited sequel, and it’s currently set to hit theaters May 1, 2026. We can’t wait to be in Miranda Priestly’s iconic presence yet again– but to Ms. Priestly, we’re not worthy of the big screen!
