Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has taken theaters by storm these past few weeks. From the funky, bizarre storyline to seeing old characters we missed back on our screens, it’s the sequel we never knew we needed. But in our opinion, the best part was, of course, the fashion! We’ve all seen Jenna Ortega’s iconic press tour outfits, but it’s time we look to outfits worn in the film for our fall fashion inspiration.
Stripes… For Autumn? Groundbreaking!

If you don’t understand that reference, it’s time for you to rewatch The Devil Wears Prada. Stripes are a fall classic, and now is not the time to sleep on them. Here, Jenna’s character, Astrid, is sporting a striped, ripped sweater dress, showing us that edgy, distressed styles still look cool. The dress is accessorized with a chunky belt with silver hardware—try out some silver jewelry this fall, it’s in—and biker shorts peeking out from the hem. This detail tones down the dressiness of the sweater dress, which is a good way to make the look more casual. She is also wearing tall black lace-up boots with leg warmers, reminding us that tall and edgy boots are the shoes of fall 2024.
Dark Purple and Long Coats

There’s no denying that dark purple is a spooky, autumnal color. Most of the time, we see the shade in nail colors, socks, or even in vintage silk button-ups. But the Beetlejuice cast is giving us another way to play with this cool fall color—as a full-body look. Long coats have seen a resurgence in popularity over the last few years, but we usually see them in neutral tones, like browns, tans, and blacks, or in stand-out colors, like bright pinks and reds. So taking this dark but fun color—the eggplant purple—and wearing it in the long coat puts a new spin on a classic trend.
Pattern Mixing

Last, but certainly not least, we see Astrid mixing patterns in a very ’80s way throughout the film. The muddy way that the pattern of her floral dress blends into the similarly-toned flannel tied around her waist makes for an eye-catching look. Pairing it with the tall black lace-up boots and the denim bomber jacket, which are solidified fall staples, is a surefire way to make this look more cohesive. This look is fun and inspires us to mix our patterns in more captivating ways.
Jenna Ortega’s character in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice revives some quintessential fall styles that we’ve been sleeping on recently. Bringing back vintage vibes and cool color palettes will be a fun way to spice up your style this autumn. So don’t be afraid to play with pieces you already have in your closet and start pattern-mixing to channel Astrid for the coolest fall looks.
