The Experience

During the exhibit, fans will get to experience creatures from the popular Pokèmon card game compared to prehistoric animal fossils. People who attend will see “fossil-type Pokémon.” These include characters like Tyrantrum, Archeops, Kabutop, and Armaldo. All of these fictional creatures resemble the dinosaurs that once roamed the Earth.

The prehistoric creatures that will be featured in the exhibit are a huge fossil view of Sue, a 40-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex, and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, another fossil that sheds light of the prehistoric birds.

The tour will not be led by your typical museum guide. Instead, it will feature “Pokémon Professors” from the show alongside the famous Excavator Pikachu. The exhibit will also include real paleontologists and scientists from the Field Museum, including chief fossil preparator Akiko Shinya, who will also serve as a guide.

“Baby Ceratopsids would’ve had shorter, narrower frills than adults’ broader, squared versions kind of like the differences you see when Shieldon evolves into Bastiodon,” Shinya said while being interviewed by the Field Museum.
