Plus-size Influencers Ruling Fashion & Beauty

Plus Size model

Now that Spring is here, everyone’s on a hunt for some fashion inspo. For our plus size baddies out there, finding fresh and creative ideas can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. As cute as Torrid’s florals and skull prints can be, some of us crave more eclectic and spunky outfit inspo! Luckily, there are TONS of amazing and unique plus-sized influencers out there who are trailblazing the fashion industry. Here’s some finspo to get your style flowing.

Moe Black

Starting off strong we have gorgeous badass Monique “Moe” Black, whose closet ranges from ballet core to Y2K fits. Not only has she graced Vogue articles, modeled for thread beauty and New York Fashion Week, but she also has her own YouTube channel where she offers some hot takes about pop culture media.

A deep dive into Black’s Instagram offers some stellar aesthetics, main character energy and personal poetry. What makes Black a powerhouse is her untethered fearlessness wearing whatever the heck she wants no matter what fashion rules deem appropriate for plus size bodies.

Miah Carter

Also known as the “self-love big sister”, makeup artist and influencer Miah Carter is THE person to go to for skincare advice. Like many other plus size people, Carter has faced her fair share of criticism, particularly for having acanthosis nigricans. This skin condition causes hyperpigmentation around the neck and armpits, something Carter is not afraid to share online.

While many people are quick to assume Carter’s skin condition is a result of poor hygiene, she refutes her haters with self-love, the strongest weapon against online hate.

Minami Gessel

This Japanese high fashion model has a seriously impressive resume, with collaborations with big names like Glossier and Nike to front cover features on Vogue Magazine.

Gessel embraces “sukeban” culture, which emphasizes rebellious and free-spirited femininity. Leading the way for more plus-sized Asian representation in high fashion, Gessel is a force to be reckoned with.

She’s also been vocal about sustainability since the beginning of her career in 2020.

“The fashion industry has to make changes towards reducing its carbon footprint,”

– Minami Gessel to Refinery 29

Jools Lebron

If you’re looking for lash, wig and hair oil recommendations, Jools Lebron is the person to follow on TikTok. This fierce diva is well-rounded with candid get ready with me videos, rookie makeup hacks and trans visibility on her platform. As a trans woman herself, Lebron is paving the way for some needed trans representation in the beauty and fashion world.
