Album of the Year

Cowboy Carter – Beyoncé

Beyoncé has yet to win AOTY despite having four nominations in the category. But will that pattern be broken next year? Her eighth studio album was arguably one of the most talked about of her career. Instantly revered by millions, Cowboy Carter became Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, making her the first Black woman to achieve this. The album was revolutionary for its reclamation of the country music genre by Black artists, who’d been historically erased from its history.

eternal sunshine – Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande’s seventh studio album, eternal sunshine, packs an emotional punch as she explores themes of love, heartbreak, and grief through a blend of pop and R&B tunes. Debuting at No. 1 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart, many fans of the album described it as her best lyrically and most authentic.

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT – Billie Eilish

After winning AOTY for her debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2020 and being nominated for the same award for her second album Happier Than Ever in 2022, Billie Eilish is in talks to be nominated for a third time for her third studio album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. This album, produced by Eilish’s brother Finneas O’Connell, was a huge commercial success, praised for its production, vocals and songwriting.

Tyla – Tyla

Last year, Tyla won the first-ever Grammy for Best African Music Performance for her song “Water” and was named the youngest African soloist to win a Grammy. Today, Tyla’s self-titled album, which blends elements of R&B and afrobeats, is on everyone’s prediction lists for AOTY.

Brat – Charli XCX

The album that took over the internet this summer is in talks to be nominated and it’s no surprise. Debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, Brat has given Charli XCX the highest charting achievement of her career. If Brat is nominated, it would mark the first Grammy recognition for Charli XCX in a decade.

“Too Sweet”- Hozier

“Espresso”- Sabrina Carpenter

“BIRDS OF A FEATHER”- Billie Eilish

Best New Artist

Chappell Roan

Many see Chappell Roan as the front-runner in this category due to her rise in popularity this year after nearly a decade of trying to make it in the industry. In September, Roan won the award for Best New Artist at the VMAs, so she’s a shoo-in.

Benson Boone

Benson Boone has captured a wide demographic from his TikTok fame and stint on American Idol. Boone had his big break this year with his hit “Beautiful Things”, which peaked at No. 3 on number-three on the Hot 100, and is certainly a fan favorite.

Sabrina Carpenter

Despite being in the industry for a decade and releasing her sixth studio album this year, Sabrina Carpenter is eligible for next year’s Best New Artist due to her newfound success with the release of her hit “Espresso.”

Shaboozey

Shaboozey won the award for Best New Artist at the People’s Choice Country Awards, as well as the award for New Artist Song in September for his hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”. Shaboozey has had a lot of success this year, being featured on Beyonce’s album “Cowboy Carter” on tracks “Spaghetti” and “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN'”.

RAYE

RAYE, who gained popularity with her song “Escapism” last year, won the Best New Artist Award at the 2024 Brit Awards (the British equivalent of the Grammys) this year. She also received five other awards, and her success may have earned her a spot on the nominees list for the Grammys.
