In Chicago’s fashion scene, every stitch tells a story. Chic business professionals transform the city’s style every day. They re-define corporate and streetwear fashion with a touch of individuality. At night, a skyline of bright towers becomes a dazzling runway where fabric meets fantasy. The finest designers invent new couture and every model’s sashay reflects Chicago’s swagger.
In light of the city’s trendsetting potential, Chicago fashion leaders gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago on May 29 to introduce the debut of Chicago Fashion Week (CFW) in 2024.
Attendees received a first look at some of the upcoming runway trends for the fall event. Featured designers included GREYVI, I am Studios, Koush, Maria Pinto, Production Mode, Sheila Rashid and Sujata Gazder. From October 9-20, 12 days of fashion shows, local artisans markets, gala celebrations, awards and educational events will open up a new world of fashion mavens to Chicagoans.
According to CFW co-founder Ian Gerard, there will be over 50 events during the week including the return of Fashion Group International Chicago’s Rising Star awards and the Chicago History Museum‘s Costume Council 50th Anniversary Gala. Other events include a Fulton Market Outdoor Fashion Show, an Asian and Latinx fashion show and musical performances.
Unlike other high-end fashion events, most of CFW’s events will be free and accessible for the public. One of CFW’s goals is to foster networking opportunities for local designers while offering consumers eccentric fashion.
CFW is sponsored by Tricoci Salon & Spa with educational programs led by Chicago fashion schools Dominican University, Columbia College Chicago and The School of Art Institute of Chicago. Whether you’re a fashion newbie or an aspiring fashionista, CFW will have something for everyone.
