The Insecure 10th anniversary tour will not be moving forward. The tour was set to hit 13 cities, beginning in Philadelphia on September 10, with planned stops including Washington, D.C., Detroit, Boston, Brooklyn, Las Vegas, Oakland, Chicago, Atlanta and Houston.
Series creator Issa Rae, producer Prentice Penny and cast members made the announcement in a video posted to social media.
The Cast Breaks the News
The video features several cast members, including Yvonne Orji and Jay Ellis, in different locations, teasing who would announce the cancellation.
“The tour ain’t happening, y’all. I’m so sorry,” said Natasha Rothwell finally.
Penny explained that scheduling conflicts caused the cancellation.
“Guys, we are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are all so bummed, I’m serious. But everybody started working, which is good,” he said.
“Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up, and we are so sorry, but we only wanted to do this if we could all be there and give you the best experience possible,” Rae elaborated.
2026 marks the show’s tenth anniversary. Insecure premiered on September 23, 2016, and ran for five seasons, ending in 2021. Based on Rae’s web series, Awkward Black Girl, the show followed as she navigated relationships, career struggles and life as a contemporary Black woman.

In the comment section of the post, fans expressed their disappointment about the news.
“This is really disappointing! When putting this together, don’t you typically double check schedules and make sure it will align & work out? This is a real blow to the fan base and the money people spent & the excitement behind this.. then yall tried to make a joke out of it 🥴,” said one commenter.
“Y’all said Inglewood like it’s around the corner when y’all booked a national tour…🥴 but luv y’all 😅✨,” said another.
However, one commenter shared their excitement for the cast’s new endeavors.
“What would yall rather see everyone on tour for nostalgia/ reminiscing purposes or have them be booked and busy? This definitely sounds like good news to me! Congratulations Issa on the new deals! Congratulations Jay on the new show! Shoutout to everyone whose schedules couldn’t make it happen that means yall are building for the FUTURE not just the past. (We still want the show back though lol) 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.”
According to Ticketmaster, fans will receive a refund as soon as they receive funds from the event organizer. Despite the cancellation, fans will still have a chance to celebrate in Inglewood, California, on October 8 at YouTube Theater.
