Remember those friends who know you so well, they can finish your sentences before you even start? That’s the hilarious dynamic between Will and Sylvia in Platonic. The hit comedy is scheduled to return to Apple TV+ for another season of cringe-worthy (but laugh-out-loud) moments.
Starring and executive produced by comedic powerhouses Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen, the show is a true recipe for success. Co-created, directed, and co-written by comedy mastermind Nick Stoller and the talented Francesca Delbanco, Platonic quickly rose to stardom after its summer debut.
Critics and audiences around the world couldn’t get enough, showering the show with praise and catapulting it to a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. No wonder the co-creators are ecstatic about Season 2!
“We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to tell more stories with Seth, Rose and everyone at Apple TV+ and Sony,” said co-creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco.
“Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”
“Since the first episodes of ‘Platonic’ debuted on Apple TV+, global audiences have been charmed by the hilarious, wildly fun and relatable friendship that Rose and Seth have brought to life through their charismatic performances,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+.
“We can’t wait for viewers to see these characters encounter even more comedic mayhem in season two thanks to our partners at Sony and to the brilliant minds of Francesca and Nick.”
Platonic follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife and reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming — and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.
This isn’t just another project for Apple TV+ and Byrne, who also shines in the platform’s dark comedy Physical.
Rogen has another untitled comedy series brewing with Apple TV+, which he’ll write, direct, and executive produce alongside Evan Goldberg.
If you missed out on the first season of Platonic, there’s still time to catch up. The critically acclaimed first season of “Platonic” is currently streaming globally on Apple TV+.
