As someone that will graduate this school year, it feels like every other day there is something about the job market. I can’t escape people talking about how difficult it is to find a job. You want to know what else I can’t escape? AI. Sometimes it feels like it came out of nowhere.
When it comes to this conversation, it’s important to specify how people are using AI.

I don’t know about you guys, but I have definitely been hit with a question I was not ready for in an interview. Or, when you are preparing for an interview and your brain is thinking of everything but the interview? Been there, done that. Recently, people have been using AI applications like ChatGPT to work through and prepare for applying to jobs. It’s similar to how you would use a diary. You can put all of your thoughts in and let the AI application organize it for you.
You also have websites like Jobright where they do the job hunting for you. Let me tell you: job hunting should be considered a sport. Having to keep check of where you applied, what stage in the application process you are in, and the companies that have rejected or ghosted you is tiring.
@beverlydines If you resume is getting immediately rejected after submitting an application Even though you’re MORE than qualified for the role You need to hear this from a COO On why and HOW to bypass these systems #jobsearch #resume #career

According to Business for Social Responsibility, companies use AI “for their potential to streamline and speed up the hiring process, and to identify superior and more diverse candidates.” This is where opinions get complex. People report getting rejection emails from a job too early—early enough to raise suspicion. The suspicion? Companies are auto rejecting candidates immediately after they submit their application.
This is an issue because there are good candidates with different features that will help the job. People might not have the exact experience but something similar that could be useful. Not to mention, it’s hard to pinpoint what is wrong with your application when you get auto rejected. Was it the format? Is it a lack of experience? Is it because you didn’t do a million extracurricular activities when you were in school?
Now, this is not an ad on weather you should use AI or not. Overall, I think everyone just wants to even the playing field. There is no point in pretending that AI does not exist and people use it. Learning how to use it and what to use it for is the question. Have you used AI for a job, N Crowd?
