Just a few weeks after an awkward lingerie photoshoot with her daughter, Heidi Klum, 51, is under fire again for flashing her underboob in a reel showcasing some new t-shirt designs. With over 20 years in the fashion industry, the German-American model’s age seems to be catching up with critics.
On October 14, Klum’s daughter Leni, 20, posted a risqué photo on Instagram of her and her mother modeling lacy bra and underwear sets together. The post also came with a short video where the Klums take photos of each other in their lingerie, tenderly gazing at one another. Many interpreted the sensuality of this commercial differently, as is evident in the comments below the post.
Critical comments ranged from, “it makes me feel a little bit uncomfy because everyone knows it’s your mother,” to, “pretty sure I’ve seen a video of this on Brazzers.”
The Klums did have lots of support, though, with one person commenting, “Heidi, you look like her big sister rather than her mama!”
About a month later on November 15, Heidi Klum released more apparel from her self-titled line, advertising the new clothes on the Instagram page of British photographer Rankin. This time, feedback was less kind and people took jabs at her for flashing her underboob in the photoshoot.
After Daily Mail posted her photos on their website, comments criticized Klum’s appearance. Daily Mail’s article claimed Klum had “pulses racing” in the shoot, but comments rebutted with, “no pulses are racing,” and, “I wonder what her children really think of her desperate behavior?”
Another comment read, “put them old things away.”
This anti-aging backlash isn’t new for Klum, who has been told she’s too old to model since 2018. Some have even claimed she’s “ugly and wrinkly”. This hasn’t deterred her from rocking her youthful style, though, as she’s been vocal about her sentiments on aging. Klum has said she doesn’t fear aging despite constant media attention pointing out her wrinkles and eyebags, which *surprise* come with growing older.
While Klum is certainly indignant in her fight against ageist haters, she does stand as a controversial figure in terms of how much she embraces being naked and topless. Many believe she’s a bit deluded for revealing that she sometimes forgets to put clothes on when her children’s friends visit and that her kids often remind her to do so.
There’s a lot older women can learn from Klum’s free-spirited ways…and a lot they can learn from her over-the-top love of being naked at home (especially in front of her kids’ friends). What we can take away from her recent backlash is that while she may have some questionable boundaries when it comes to nudity, it’s no excuse for ageism against her.
