Flavor Flav Joins as Sponsor, Hypeman and Official Member of USA Women’s Bobsled and Skeleton

USA won bronze medal in Bobsled

Flavor Flav is back and is now the official sponsor and hype man of the USA’s women’s Bobsled & Skeleton teams for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Flavor Flav is a rapper and reality television star. He co-founded the hip-hop group, Public Enemy, which rose in the 80s. The group is known for using their music to make political stances, specifically about racism in America. Now, Flavor Flav is spotlighting a new arena that deserves attention and recognition.

“My mission is to be their official hype man and push them into the direction of getting those medals,” Flavor Flav said. “I’m trying to set the trend to bring more sponsors into the Olympics.”

This isn’t Flavor Flav’s first rodeo, as he sponsored the USA Water Polo teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Not only is Flavor Flav a sponsor and hypeman, but an official member of the USA Bobsled & Skeleton teams. He rode a skeleton sled down the Utah Olympic Park track. Members of the band, Maroon 5, also took their turns on the sled.

Bobsled consists of two or four riders pushing and steering a sled down an ice track as fast as possible. Once the sled has reached ideal speed, the riders find their way into the sled to reach the finish line.

Skeleton, while similar, also uses sleds but is a solo ride. Athletes sprint and then dive onto the sled, head first, and slide down to the finish line.

Through his sponsor and sportsmanship, Flavor Flav aims to bring more attention and funding to the Olympic teams. For U.S. teams, they do not receive government funding to their athletes, making it crucial to acknowledge the difference a sponsor can make.

“I think a lot of other celebrities like myself need to step up to the plate and sponsor some of these Olympic teams, because these Olympians are out there busting their butts to make us look good,” Flav said

U.S. teams rely on their sponsorship, fundraising, and private funding. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) uses Olympic revenue to support athletes.

Along with sponsoring these teams, Flavor Flav created a GoFundMe which will go towards the “She Got Game” celebration in Las Vegas. He also created this to spotlight women Olympian athletes and to provide financial support to those who don’t earn much from competing.

The “She Got Game” celebration will take place from July 16-19 to honor the women’s hockey team’s gold medal victory. It will also celebrate and support fellow female athletes.

At the end of this winter’s Olympic Games, women have yet again finished with more gold and total medals in their events than men’s for a sixth consecutive Olympics, finishing with eight gold medals.

Nonetheless, these women athletes deserve an equal amount of love and attention for the hard work they constantly put in. These powerful women serve as a reminder that females can do anything males can– if not better.
