Netflix announced they’re rebooting one of America’s most beloved rom-coms and casting Emily Bader and Logan Lerman to do the job. Bader and Lerman will star in Netflix’s upcoming 13 Going on 30 remake as Jenna Rink and her childhood best friend Matty Flamhoff.
The original 13 Going on 30 (2004) was an instant hit thanks to Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo’s on-screen chemistry. Garner told Kylie Kelce on her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, that 13 Going on 30 is the film fans ask her to quote the most often. Fans were ecstatic to see Garner and Ruffalo reunite in 2022 in The Adam Project. The pair once again played an on-screen married couple. Garner will stay close to the 13 Going on 30 reboot as an executive producer.
Though Netflix has yet to reveal additional details of the film’s script and plot, it appears they plan to stay faithful to the original movie. This new adaptation won’t be the first. A musical version of 13 Going On 30 premiered in September 2025 in the UK. The show will come to Toronto later this year and possibly make its way to Broadway in the fall.

Bader’s role as Jenna Rink comes hot on the heels of her recent success in People We Meet on Vacation. Netflix announced earlier this year that Bader will also play Mia Hamm in an upcoming Netflix biopic on the 1999 U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team.
Lerman is best known for his early roles in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the Percy Jackson films. Recently, he starred opposite Molly Gordon in Oh, Hi! and guest-starred on season five of Only Murders in the Building.

Brett Haley will direct the iconic reboot. The project will be Haley and Bader’s second collaboration. The pair worked together for Netflix on the film adaptation of Emily Henry’s People We Meet On Vacation.
As more cast and film details emerge, we hope the reboot is as “flirty, thirty and thriving” as the original.
