Marvel star Chris Hemsworth has finally earned his star on the Hollywood promenade. Known for his work as Thor in the Marvel franchise, the lead of the Netflix original Extraction and more, Hemsworth has more than earned his place on the walk of fame.
Robert Downey Jr., Hemsworth’s Marvel co-star, spoke at the event, quoting statements — and roasts — from other Marvel actors and what they had to say about Hemsworth. Mark Ruffalo hilariously described Hemsworth as a “friend from work,” and Scarlett Johansson said Hemsworth was a “sensitive leading lady.”
Other speakers included Filmmaker George Miller, director of Hemsworth’s newest release Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Downey Jr. spoke highly of his friend and coworker. “Chris is a bit daunting to describe. He’s very elusive because of the pretty packaging,” he said. “However, upon further inspection, he has a true-blue wit and he has a depth of soul.”
Downey Jr. also praised Hemsworth’s new film Furiosa, and said he is prepared to see the movie “three times,” and claiming it as the next “Barbenheimer.”
Hemsworth brought along his wife Elsa Pataky and three children to the ceremony. Co-Star Anya Taylor-Joy, also starring in the new Mad Max prequel, also made an appearance.
In his speech, Hemsworth gave a beautiful tribute to his wife. “It doesn’t get lost on me that she put aside her own dreams in order to support mine, and, again, I am forever in your debt,” he said.
Miller also delivered a speech, praising Hemsworth and reflecting on working with him during the creation of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He said Hemsworth’s performance went beyond his expectations, and said he was “incredibly impressed.”
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga released in theatres May 24, receiving a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth’s acting, as well as the epic action in the film-which is classic for Miller. In theatres now, Hemsworth’s performance is available for all movie-goers, and lovers of the classic Mad Max saga, to see.
