For many years, celebrities have been using their fame to build brands of their own. A-listers from Hailey Bieber to Priyanka Chopra Jonas all have their own unique line of cosmetic or skincare products. Because these women are famous, fans have taken a quick liking to their brands. But the question is — are these products actually good quality or do the celebrity faces behind the brands explain their hype? If you find yourself wondering the same thing, don’t worry, we’ve got your back!
Yuka is an app that allows users to scan skincare, beauty, or food products to analyze their overall quality and the quality of their ingredients. This allowed us to review several celebrity brand products’ Yuka ratings, a score out of 100 depending on their quality. Based on the information we collected, here’s our breakdown of whether these celebrity brand products are worth your money!
Rhode Skin by Hailey Bieber

Bieber started Rhode Skincare in June of 2022 to create a skincare line that is not only accessible but also effective for buyers. On the Rhode website, Bieber features her pocket blush, peptide lip tint, and pineapple refresh daily cleanser, so we decided to put these products to the Yuka test!
Rhode Skin’s Peptide Lip Tint

Despite the hype and the awesome Rhode lip tint-holder phone case, Yuka has given Rhode Skin’s peptide lip tint a “poor” score of 33/100. This is because of three ingredients that raise a moderate risk as potential carcinogens, which are substances that increase the risk of cancer, and pollutants. So while the Rhode Skin lip tint is not the worst lip care product on the market, Yuka does recommend users look into using Pixi Beauty‘s Botanical Collagen lip gloss because of its flawless rating.
Rhode Skin’s Pocket Blush

According to Yuka, Rhode Skin’s pocket blush receives a “poor” score of 42/100 because it contains three ingredients that pose a low risk for potential allergens. Besides the three low-risk ingredients, Rhode Skin’s pocket blush also contains synthetic wax, a moderate risk for pollution, and potential carcinogens. It’s important to note, however, that a large number of cosmetics have potential carcinogens — not that normalizing the use of carcinogens in cosmetic products is the goal. As a replacement, Yuka suggests consumers invest in a product Rihanna made for her cosmetic line, Fenty Beauty’s Match Stix, because it has a near-perfect Yuka rating.
Rhode Skin’s Pineapple Refresh Daily Cleanser

The last of Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Skin products is her pineapple refresh daily cleanser. On Yuka, this one falls under “perfection,” with a rating of 100/100 because the only ingredients in this daily cleanser are risk-free. Bieber popped off in creating the safe and high-quality pineapple refresh cleanser for her fans, followers, and consumers.
When it comes to a sustainable daily cleanser, Rhode Skin is the way to go. But other Rhode Skin products may require a bit more consideration before purchasing.
Fenty Skin by Rihanna

Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in late 2017 and since then she has added more lines to her brand, including hair care and skincare. We mentioned Fenty Beauty’s Match Stix blush while reviewing Rhode Skin’s pocket blush because of its excellent 100/100 Yuka rating. But are all of Rihanna’s Fenty Skin products just as good?
Fenty Skin’s Hydra Vizor Huez Tinted Moisturizer

Unlike Rihanna’s amazing Match Stix, Rihanna’s Hydra Vizor Huez tinted moisturizer has a “poor” score of 36/100 on Yuka. Besides the three low-risk ingredients, two ingredients are at moderate risk for being a potential pollutant, potential allergen, and irritant to the environment and user. Instead of picking up this Fenty Skin product, Yuka encourages buyers to try Raw Element’s tinted daily face moisturizer with SPF 30 which has a sparkling Yuka rating of 93/100.
Fenty Skin’s Instant Reset Overnight Brightening Recovery Gel

Similar to the Hydra Vizor Huez tinted moisturizer, Yuka rates Rihanna’s overnight brightening eye gel as a 32/100. Yuka has scored this product low because of its five ingredients with low risks and two ingredients with moderate risks which are potential allergens, pollutants, and irritants. Instead of picking up this Fenty Skin eye gel, next time try Good Molecules‘ Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel, a top-quality product according to Yuka.
Fenty Skin’s Fat Water Niacinamide Pore-Refining Toner Serum

Last, but definitely not least… Rihanna’s Fat Water Niacinadmide toner has the highest Yuka score out of all the previously reviewed Fenty Skin products, a 47/100. With only one low-risk ingredient and one moderate-risk ingredient, Fenty Skin’s Fat Water is not a terrible product, however, perfectly Yuka-rated products like Byoma‘s sensitive retinol oil can be a lower-risk alternative.
So are Rihanna’s Fenty Skin products good quality? Using these products will cause no harm to the buyer, but there are safer and better quality products worth exploring based on your skincare needs.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez launched Rare Beauty in late 2020 to build a space within the cosmetic world for safe conversations about mental health and to make an impact on all people. In 2023, Rare Beauty raised $7 million and reached 1 billion people through mental health summits hosted by the brand. Ultimately, Selena says she created Rare Beauty to welcome self-acceptance, self-expression, and love into the world through cosmetics and mental health resources. Rare Beauty’s liquid blush has become quite the bestseller for Gomez’s brand, but will these products measure up to Yuka’s expectations?
Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Not only does the Rare Beauty soft pinch liquid blush come in many colors, but it also passes Yuka’s quality test with a score of 62/100. The only ingredients with low risks regard potential allergens and irritants. Selena Gomez did the beauty community a favor with her soft pinch liquid blush.
Rare Beauty’s Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick

Unlike Selena’s liquid blush, Rare Beauty’s effortless bronzer stick is not the best option. Yuka has given this product a “bad” score of 15/100 because of its contents of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) which is a compound used in cosmetics for its antioxidant functions. Instead, Yuka suggests trying Saie‘s sun melt cream balm bronzer because it only has one low-risk ingredient that is unlikely to cause harm.
After reviewing three of Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty products, it’s clear that some products are fantastic, while others require more research and consideration before purchasing.
Anomaly Haircare by Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, actress and wife to Nick Jonas, launched Anomaly Haircare in partnership with global beauty incubator Maesa in 2021, selling hair products online on Amazon and in stores like Target and CVS. In 2023, Anomaly Haircare became the second wealthiest beauty brand, beating competitors like Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez. Now, we are putting Anomaly Haircare up against Yuka’s expectations.
Anomaly Clarifying Shampoo

The Anomaly clarifying shampoo for deep cleanse with charcoal and eucalyptus received a “poor” rating from Yuka with its score of 37/100. The clarifying shampoo contains enough phenoxyethanol for moderate risks of potential allergens, pollutants, and irritants. Phenoxyethanol is used in cosmetics to stop microorganisms from growing is only allowed in regulated amounts in most countries. In the United States, however, it is not regulated. Overall, this product is not one to necessarily avoid, but those with skin sensitivities or allergies should be cautious of Anomaly clarifying shampoo. If you are looking for a higher-quality clarifying shampoo, Yuka suggests trying Attitude‘s Clarifying Shampoo.
Anomaly Gentle Shampoo

Anomaly’s gentle shampoo has a mediocre score of 58/100 on Yuka because of the six low-risk ingredients it has. But since the risky ingredients do not pose serious harm, we are not against this Anomaly shampoo. Yuka also notes this product doesn’t include harmful silicones or sulfate, so when gentleness counts, this product gets the job done.
Anomaly Hydrating Shampoo

Similar to Anomaly’s clarifying shampoo, the hydrating shampoo has a Yuka score of 37/100 for the same moderate-risk ingredient, phenoxyethanol. The hydrating shampoo also has six other low-risk ingredients. Deciding on whether or not to use this product should come down to the consumer’s sensitivity to potential allergens and irritants. Yuka recommends buyers with sensitive skin to try Shea Moisture’s daily hydration shampoo instead because it is less likely to cause irritation or allergies.
After reviewing Anomaly’s best products, we have decided these products are good-quality for most — though people with skin sensitivities should take caution.
Fame for Quality or Fame of the Name?

These celebrity beauty products are not only adorable but also decent quality! We find no reason, besides skin sensitivities, to stop you from trying out these fun products in all the variations they come in (though we encourage buyers to shop somewhere other than Rare Beauty for a contour stick). We applaud Hailey, Rihanna, Selena, and Priyanka for creating these accessible and heartfelt brands for beauty lovers everywhere.
As consumers, it’s important to know what you’re buying, where it comes from, and what exactly you are applying to your skin. Apps like Yuka are great tools to use to enhance your shopping experiences. We hope this guide to celebrity brand products helps you make your next beauty purchase.
