It wasn’t until college I started truly thinking about my appearance. I wanted to be more confident, but I didn’t know what to do. I don’t know when it started, but I started to wear heels. I remember wanting to feel more “mature.” Then, I started wearing heels almost everyday. Casual heels were the perfect way to give me that confidence boost. However, choosing what heels to wear is another challenge.
Kitten Heels
Kitten heels are currently having their moment on social media. The heel is around 1 to 2 inches, making for the perfect beginner heel because they are low to the ground. They are a good shoe to reach for if you’re making the transition from wearing tennis shoes to heels. I find kitten heels to be stylish for a variety events, such as work, classes, events, and parties. You can even pair them with flare jeans and head over to class (like I do)!
@mymelanie06 They were only $24.98 🫶🏻 and I’m usually a 7.5 but I had to go up a size since there’s no half sizes #kittenheels #polkadot #cuteshoes #walmartfinds #walmart

Platforms
The great thing about platforms is that they don’t have to be the typical high heel you’re thinking of. They can be platform sandals or flip-flops and they provide a thick sole across the foot. I suggest wearing platforms for longer days for some more stability. Platform sandals and flip-flops are also super cute for the summer! I normally pair them with a long skirt and tank top during sunny season.

Wedges
Next up, my absolute favorite, is wedges. Wedges and platforms are often confused with one another. Many companies combine the two. Most of the time, wedges follow that triangular slope of a high heel. They are great for casual and formal events. I love pairing wedges with jean shorts and a t-shirt.

Block Heels
Block heels were the first heels I every worn for my prom. The wide base offers good support and practical for different surfaces. I advise wearing these for outdoor events and for teenagers starting to get into heels. I prefer these heels with dresses or a wide pant leg. They are a great combination of style, comfort, and versatility.

As someone on the shorter side, heels are my best friend. The simple change of wearing heels everyday has made my outfits look more put together. It felt weird as first but quickly turned into a habit. I know many people stray from heels because they think they are impractical. However, lower heels can still be comfortable for daily wear and you can really complete your look with any of these stylish options, especially as spring and summer approach.
