Healthy Alternative Recipes

Do not fear, N Crowd! Veggies can still have a home in your diet. Although some raw vegetables are currently unsafe to eat, sauteed vegetables are completely harmless! Per usual, wash your veggies before adding them to the pan. As heat increases, most harmful bacteria are killed through boiling, steaming, and roasting. Below are a couple of curated healthy recipes to keep you on track with your health goals! Veggies, protein, and all of the above—we have your back, and your stomach’s best interest at heart.

Beginner-friendly recipe for a high-protein sweet potato bowl!
PC: Recipe Essence

This Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl focuses on a filling and high-energy start to your morning. Due to the savory items, the body gains nutrients that it can use for the rest of the day! It is best to avoid sugary items in the morning, as it raises cortisol, which leads to afternoon crashes.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Toss diced sweet potatoes with avocado oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Roast the potatoes on an oven sheet in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. While the potatoes roast, cook bacon pieces in a skillet until crispy. TIP: leave the bacon fat behind in the pan for the next step!
  5. Saute red and green bell peppers and red onion in the bacon fat. Set these veggies aside with the bacon.
  6. Cook 2 eggs to your own liking. I love to go for a fluffy scramble while adding salt and pepper.
  7. Assemble the sauce. Mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, and sriracha in a small bowl. Adjust the amount of ingredients based on individual preference.
  8. Build the bowl! Combine all of these steps together to create one cohesive meal.
  9. To top your bowl, throw some feta cheese on top and drizzle on that sriracha sauce.
