Who runs the world? Girls! It’s Women’s Health Month, and there’s so much to unpack on why it’s super important for women to stay on top of their health and yearly doctor visits. We’re only as good as our health, and we want our fellow women out there to take their well-being seriously so they have the power and strength to achieve anything they want in life, because they deserve it!
Breast Cancer
Women tend to be more impacted by different health conditions than men, especially in regards to breast cancer. Breast cancer accounts for around 30 percent of the different types of cancer females can get. Even though it’s most common in middle-aged women, it’s never too late to ask questions at your next doctor’s visit and request a breast exam at your next annual checkup, no matter how old you are.

Autoimmune Disease
Autoimmune conditions are also more prevalent in women, though researchers are still not completely sure why this is. There has been some suggestions that possible sex hormones and different gut microbiomes may play a part in this phenomenon. Some of the most common autoimmune diseases in women are Lupus, Hashimotos, and Sjögren’s syndrome.
Depending on which autoimmune disease you’re dealing with, symptoms can vary. But if you experience new joint pain, skin rashes, hair loss, or digestive changes, it never hurts to make an appointment with your primary care doctor to address any concerns you may have.

Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is another health battle that many women face, and it’s important to be on the lookout. As of 2025, over 20,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Some risk factors to keep in mind are your age and family history of breast cancer. Annual pap smear exams are a great tool for women to stay proactive towards cervical health and provide early prevention.
We want to take a moment to shout out all the fierce women who have battled or are currently battling some of these diseases and showcase their warrior mentality towards women’s health.

Actress Christina Applegate is a breast cancer survivor and has also been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Applegate has been honest and open about her health struggles, and we commend her for being such a fighter and inspiration.

Selena Gomez has been extremely transparent and candid towards her lupus diagnosis, and has gone into detail on what it’s been like dealing with all of the symptoms it can bring in her popular documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me.

Halsey is another brilliant and brave woman who has been open towards the public about her multiple health conditions, including lupus, POTS, and even endometriosis. These are all painful, challenging conditions that require lifetime treatment and monitoring. Even so, it doesn’t stop Halsey from songwriting and performing on stage.
Women truly are remarkable in taking on the hardest obstacles and turning them into fuel for fighting back in life. They play such a huge part in making the world go round, and advocating for women’s health should always be in the conversation for a better future.
