Halle Bailey returned to Instagram after the announcement that she and DDG have amicably called it quits after over two years as a couple. The Little Mermaid star shared a series of photos captioned, “life is beautiful,” on Oct. 11.

DDG broke the news of their break up on Oct. 3 over Instagram Stories.
“Dear friends and supporters, After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote. “The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for us. I cherish the time together and the love we shared.”
DDG went on to write that although their relationship has changed, their “love for each other remains deep and true” and that they “are still best friends and adore each other.” This comes less than a year after welcoming their son, Halo.
Bailey and DDG first sparked dating rumors back in January 2022 when they were spotted together at Usher’s Las Vegas residency.
DDG confirmed their relationship on Instagram a few months later when he wished Bailey a happy birthday in a since-deleted post with the caption, “Happy Birthday to the beautifulest, the flyest, the sweetest ❤️ love you forever 🥺💎.”
In an interview with Essence in Sept. 2022, The Little Mermaid star revealed she first knew of DDG in 2015 over YouTube — besides his work as a rapper, he’s also a content creator.
“I’ve been a fan of his for years,” she said. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”
Bailey admitted that it wasn’t until he dropped “this one song” that she really liked that the pair connected.
“Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history,” she said.
While that “history” may have now come to an end, Bailey and DDG are focused on co-parenting their son.
In an Oct. 6 episode of DDG’s No Ordinary Podcast, he mentions that their son is what has created a special bond between him and Halle that goes beyond romantic attachment.
“It’s a reason why all of this happened,” DDG said. “Me and Halle are forever family, forever.”
Halle has yet to respond to requests for comment from multiple outlets, including Cosmopolitan and Los Angeles Times.
