Just a few weeks after Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed to legally drop father Brad Pitt’s last name, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri seems to be making a similar move. When the 18-year-old graduated from the performing arts high school LaGuardia in New York City last Friday, her name was listed in the graduation program as just Suri Noelle, according to Page Six.

Suri is the only child shared by Holmes and Cruise, who were married from 2006 to 2012. The couple first met in 2005, only a few months after Cruise ended his 3 year relationship with Penelope Cruz and shortly after Holmes broke off her engagement to Chris Klein.
Though they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the David di Donatello Awards on April 29, 2005, their relationship piqued public interest that May when Cruise made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. In one of the most viral moments from the early 2000s, Cruise jumped up and down on Oprah’s couch and ran around the stage as he exuberantly expressed his love for Holmes. While some found the clip endearing, much of the public discourse at the time mocked Cruise and questioned his sanity, labeling the display as a “celebrity meltdown.”
Despite the negative media attention, the couple were engaged that June. They welcomed Suri in April of 2006 and married in a $3 million ceremony in November later that year.
But in 2012, Holmes filed for divorce from the Top Gun actor. The A-list pair announced the split to the public on June 29, but kept details of the divorce private. “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests,” they said in a joint statement. Holmes received primary custody of Suri, though Cruise was allowed ample visitation.
While the pair have rarely spoken about their relationship since, many speculate that it was Cruise’s ties to the Church of Scientology that contributed to their split. It is believed that Cruise was introduced to the church by his first wife, Mimi Rogers, who was a second-generation Scientologist herself, in 1986. Though it has not been publicly confirmed, many surmised that Holmes wanted to ensure Suri could grow up away from the controversial church.
This is the second story this week confirming that Tom Cruise does not see his minor child Suri.

This isn't Katie Holmes fault.
Scientology has declared Katie a suppressive person which means Suri is PTS (potential trouble source).

Suri’s decision to change her name also comes after years of reports that she and her father do not have a relationship, though she has not publicly commented on the matter. Fans were also quick to notice that Cruise was absent from Suri’s graduation ceremony, though he was seen at the Eras Tour in London the very next day.

Despite his absence, Suri seemed to enjoy her graduation, smiling in a series of photos with Holmes as they left the ceremony.
