A TikTok creator under the username @davillanumade is currently trending after driving three hours to confront a man who left a hateful comment on her page. The comment in question was: “Juneteenth, MLK day, black history month, Kwanzaa, the list just keeps getting bigger. At what point will you people be grateful and stop f*cking whining?”
The internet has given leeway for anyone to hide behind their profiles for cruel comments. While the main message is to be kind to other on the internet, there is another topic at hand here.
“See how I found you?” is what the woman asks once entering his workplace and revealing her identity. This question kickstarts so many conversations needed regarding internet safety. Specifically, how easy it is for someone to find information you probably wouldn’t want to be public knowledge. Your address, your home, and your occupation is free-for-all entail to find on the internet. All it takes is one person with enough patience and motivation.

Privatizing your personal details has always been a conversation, but now, with technology’s continuous development, access to information is free for just about anyone to find. Refraining from using your full name may not protect you from potential stalkers, given that we offer that in every day life. However, there are many websites to consider when making a comment online. For example, LinkedIn offers free access to a person’s occupation.
Luckily for the commenter, his life was under no chance of danger. He was only asked to read her an apology or else she’d expose his Grindr account.
While the woman’s account is now private, that hasn’t stopped the video from being reposted all over the internet. The internet hasn’t been shy in expressing their support for the woman, with many commentary videos garnering millions of views.
@iamdaviontatum I believe @DaVillanUMade offered a valuable lesson on why you shouldn’t comment hateful things under people’s posts
