Kayaks sitting on the lake

Summertime can be such a dream! There’s nothing better than being poolside with your friends and a drink in hand to cool you off. For those of us unfortunate souls who are landlocked and don’t have a pool or beach anywhere in sight… summer can be such a drag. Fortunately, we have you in mind with these fun ideas that’ll help keep you cool all summer long.

Water Parks

If you have a local water park nearby, this can be a lifesaver! Even on the hottest summer days, lounging around in the lazy river is no match for the humidity. The main attraction at water parks is all the water rides, obviously, but if you’re not the biggest fan or scared of heights, take advantage of the pool! Most places will have refreshing drinks you can order by the pool, so it’s a double win for you. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous and really craving a beach atmosphere, most places also have wave pools. It can recreate the feeling of being in the ocean even if you’re miles away from a real one!

Local Lakes

They’re a little different from the beach, but the next best thing if you ask us! Being lakeside can be just as fun during the summer, and you can even make a weekend out of it with your friends or family. If you’re able to, renting a boat and spending all day on the water will help keep the heat at bay. While we’re on the topic, renting some jet skis wouldn’t hurt either!

Fishing

If you’re not too squeamish about seeing some blood, fishing can be a great water activity! Even if you’re not by a major lake, ponds are an option too, as long as local fishing isn’t prohibited. It’s a game of patience and waiting, so it’s the perfect excuse to sit on the water all day and just chill out.

Sprinklers

Okay, it may seem childish, but it really does wonders! You don’t have to be a kid to run around in the sprinklers and have fun. It’s the easiest way to play around in the water if you don’t have access to pools, water parks, lakes, or ponds. They make plenty of affordable types of sprinklers that are easy to set up in your front yard in a matter of minutes, and something so simple will bring you all the nostalgic summer vibes!
