‘The Batman Part II’ Introduces New Faces to Gotham City

Batman Pt 2

It’s been more than four years since we saw Robert Pattinson suit up as the Dark Knight, and he will be returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the highly anticipated DC sequel.

Following three delays, The Batman: Part II director Matt Reeves has finally confirmed which stars will be returning to Gotham through a series of tweets.

The Batman: Part II is set to start production in June and is set to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027. Hopefully, that is the set and final release date because the Batman fanbase is starving for new content from the Caped Crusade, and the delays don’t make it any better.

We still don’t have details about the sequel’s plot, so fans only know the basics. The story unfolds during the winter season, with Christmas serving as its backdrop.

New Faces and Old Faces

Reeves went on a Twitter spam in late May, revealing a select few cast members for the upcoming project. Each time he posted, it was a GIF of a character from the Bat-Universe, and he left short captions followed by two bat emojis.

Apart from Pattinson, Reeves also confirmed the return of Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Sekis returning as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.

Some new faces in the DC universe will appear, but you’ve already seen them on the big screen in the Marvel Universe. Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), and Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals) all have signed to be a part of the sequel.

Stan takes on the role of Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, while Johansson will take on the role of Dent’s love interest, Gilda Dent. It will be interesting to see these actors, who are well-known for their roles in the Marvel Universe, step into the DC Universe and bring new life to these characters.

Who Will Not Return?

The majority of fan favorites from the 2022 Batman have yet to be denied or confirmed. As we know, the ending of the prequel ended with a teaser of Barry Keoghan’s Joker; it would be disappointing not to get this specific portrayal of the Joker after seeing how his solo movie did.

Zoe Kravitz played Catwoman and was loved by millions. However, during a press junket for Caught Stealing, the press did not ask her about returning as Catwoman. Her team said she was not involved and didn’t know any information.

The casting of Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry surprised fans the most, as neither actor appeared in earlier rumors surrounding the projecy

Not totally clear what their roles will be, but for now, the rumor that Koch is playing Harvey Dent, who famously becomes Two-Face, seems like it can potentially come alive.

We do know that the focus of the film will revolve around other members of the Dent family, but the story isn’t that straightforward. Reeves previously stated that the film’s main antagonist has never appeared on the big screen before.

What Could Potentially Occur?

Reeves also confirmed that the film will take place during the winter, giving us a dark and snowy holiday vibe in Gotham. Usually, a snowy Gotham means Mister Freeze could be lurking around as he needs the cold to survive, having fans think this could be his second live-action opportunity.

As more names join the rumor mill, some fans may worry that the plot is becoming crowded or that the filmmakers are adding characters without a clear plan. However, looking back at the previous movie, it featured several villains, including The Riddler, The Penguin, and Carmine Falcone.

The recent cast reveal has fueled even more excitement for The Batman Part II. The lineup of returning favorites and intriguing new additions gives fans plenty to speculate about as production moves forward.
