Grammy-winning artist SZA is expanding her influence beyond music with the launch of her new makeup line, Not Beauty. Known for her genre-blending sound and raw, emotional lyricism, the R&B star, born Solána Rowe, has become a cultural force in recent years. Her acclaimed 2022 album SOS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It stayed atop for 10 weeks. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, she won three awards, including Best Progressive R&B Album. Now, she’s entering the beauty space on her terms.

Not Beauty’s first launch focuses on lip products, featuring three lip glosses: “In the Flesh,” “Strawberry Jelly,” and “Quartz.” These exclusives are available at pop-up shops during her Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar.
The formula is described as non-sticky and is designed to prevent trans-epidermal water loss, keeping lips hydrated and plump throughout the day. It also aims to offer long-lasting wear, a key goal for the singer.

SZA explained that launching Not Beauty wasn’t about breaking into the beauty industry—it stemmed from a personal need. She wanted a product that could withstand the duration of a performance, a deep conversation, or a night out without compromising comfort.
She struggled to find a product that offered both long-lasting wear and hydration, so she created her own. Confident in her lip care knowledge, she aims to share her solution, Not Beauty, which was born from her own experiences.

The name “Not Beauty” signals a shift from traditional beauty branding. It focuses less on trends and more on function, comfort, and self-expression. These themes reflect SZA’s personal style and artistic identity.

There has been no news yet regarding whether the brand will expand beyond the tour or introduce new products. However, fans are speculating about what may come next. Given SZA’s ability to create cultural moments, Not Beauty has the potential to become a significant player in the beauty industry and could redefine modern beauty standards.
