After three and a half years of grueling anticipation and waiting, we finally have the official trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things! After such a long period of waiting for our favorite 80s-themed Netflix show, let’s catch you up to speed on where the story left off in season four first!
Season Four Breakdown (Spoilers Ahead!)
As the fourth season of Stranger Things ended, viewers were left with more than a few heartaches to deal with. One of our most beloved characters, Eddie Munson, was taken too soon and died at the hands of the creatures in the Upside Down. We discovered who Vecna is and his whole backstory with Eleven. Max is currently in the hospital, lying comatose from the aftermath of a Vecna attack. A portal is now open in the Upside Down, leading to the real world, which means nothing good can come of that. Oh, and Joyce and Hopper finally acted on their feelings for each other and escaped Russia! That about sums up where season four left us…
Season Five Trailer
Honestly, most of the trailer for this last season shows a whole lot of flashbacks and previous plot points from seasons one through four. Since it’s been years since the last season, this might just be a reminder for us watchers on everything the Hawkins crew has endured thus far. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to go off of because of this, and fans’ minds are spinning with theories based on the little snippets we were given towards the end of the trailer.
One of the new scenes we’ll get to watch is previewed in the trailer, showing a large chunk of floor breaking apart and opening in some sort of outdoor setting. The scene depicts almost a dozen armed men, guns loaded and anxiously awaiting something that is emerging from underground. It could be demogorgons, demobats, or even Vecna himself. All we know is, it can’t be anything good…
Another big reveal that has fans theorizing is the trailer’s end clip showing Will screaming out for everyone around him to RUN. He looks like he’s super stressed and something is taking hold of his body. Vecna, maybe? There’s been tons of theories predicting that Vecna and Will are actually mentally connected and Vecna will be using that mind to mind connection to control Will in season five. Will turning from protagonist to villain? We did not see that coming but we’re here for that juicy plot twist if so!
Besides those two new scenes, that’s all the footage we’ve got so far, and we can’t wait to see if there will be another trailer released sooner to the premiere date. According to Netflix, season five will be split into three volumes. Volume one will be on November 26th, 2025. Volume two on Christmas. Then Volume three, the series finale, will be on New Year’s Eve.
