Worry no longer- Netflix’s hit series “Squid Game” is coming back this year to lead fans down another dramatic and hair-raising road.
Netflix has released riveting and exciting photos from the series, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk. Snapshots reveal eye-catching imagery bursting with vivid colors, giving viewers a peek into the director’s next artistic vision.
Shots of protagonist Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) and the “Squid Game” recruiter, known only as “The Salesman” (played by Gong Yoo) foreshadow a bigger role for Yoo’s character following his minor appearances in season one.
Season two will pick up on Seong Gi-hun’s plan for revenge following his triumph in season one’s Squid Game, where Korean contestants in debt competed in violent tasks and contests to win a large sum of prize money. After discovering strange mysteries and elitist operations behind the games, Seong vows to stop the next game and find out the culprit mastermind behind it all.
Though there isn’t a confirmed release date for season two, fans are expecting the same greatness from season one. With six Emmy wins and a Golden Globe nomination, the ground-breaking Korean drama made history when Lee Jung-jae won the first Emmy for best actor in a drama series as an Asian man.
Netflix has yet to release an official trailer for “Squid Game’s” second season, but hopefully viewers will receive an official sneak peek trailer soon. In the meantime, fans can curb their excitement with “Squid Game’s” British reality TV series, “Squid Game: The Challenge”, which has also been renewed for a second season.
