Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing on July 31, 2026, has been showing teasers of the new suit. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Glass Castle),Tom Holland will be returning to play Peter Parker, aka the amazing Spider-Man. Cretton was originally selected to direct the next Avengers films but was later reassigned to him this film, with Anthony and Joe Russo taking over for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The teaser released on August 2 featured Holland standing in a dark room. A door opens, and the light reveals him jumping up and down in the new suit, like he’s pumping himself up for something. He then turns to walk and faces the camera. Looking off-screen, he says, “We ready?” He then looks back, smiling and walking off. The teaser ends with the logo and title for the new film, with poignant music playing throughout the whole video. Keen listeners will notice that it’s the same music playing in the final scenes of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Many have compared the suit to previous suits, specifically Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a peek of the suit. If you remember, at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we saw him swinging around in this same suit. It features the classic blue and red color scheme. However, the newer suit adopts a deeper blue and larger spider emblem on the chest. The webbing raises and textures the material, reflecting similarities with Maguire’s suit. It also appears shinier.
With filming having started on August 1, it’ll be the thirty-eighth Marvel film and the second for Phase Six. Many excited fans are cooking up theories as to what we’ll see or any new characters. So far, Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) and Sadie Sink have joined the cast. While Sink’s character is unconfirmed, one fun, multiversal theory says she may be playing Mayday Parker, the daughter of Maguire’s Spider-Man.

In an article by the The Hollywood Reporter, it confirms Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk. While his part in the plot is still unknown, many speculate that he might become Savage Hulk, which is an angrier, more violent side of the Hulk.

For the villains, Michael Mando returns as Scorpion. He posted a photo of himself with his scorpion neck tattoo. The caption read, “st!ng,” and uses the #Spiderman. At the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, talking with Michael Keaton (The Vulture) about wanting Spider-Man’s secret identity.

Many believe that there are signs pointing to the villain Mister Negative appearing in the film, but nothing is concrete. He was heavily popularized as the main villain Insomniac’s Spider-Man (2018) video game. More photos posted by Holland depict a tank that many theorize could belong to Mister Negative and his gang, but, again, nothing’s been confirmed. If he is in the film, he could be the reason The Hulk goes savage. His power to corrupt people is strong, and we’ve seen Hulk under spells before, like in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
People also question when the film fits into the MCU timeline. Some wonder if the film is set after Daredevil: Born Again, where the villain Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), aka Kingpin, becomes mayor of New York City. His character is the leader of a criminal empire, and often doubles as both a Daredevil villain as well as a Spider-Man one. In this possibly post-Kingpin world, other villains may be looking to take the crown and reign over New York’s seedy criminal underbelly.

Many also wonder how The Punisher can hope to face against The Hulk, a character much more powerful than him. As a result, many speculate that Frank Castle will have a suit similar to the Hulkbuster one designed by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War. This is what may cause tension between the trio of characters, as Spider-Man’s friendship with Bruce Banner could lead him to protect him against The Punisher. Conversely, the Punisher and Spider-Man could team up to stop Savage Hulk. However, again, neither Sony nor Marvel has commented on plot details, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Sadly, while the plot is entirely fan speculation, patience is a virtue. As more details and leaks continue to funnel into our timelines. It’s always fun to theorize about what might happen in this action-packed movie. For now, we can all look at Holland’s Instagram for an inside look and rewatch the teaser until we get something new.
