ACOTAR fans, start officially preparing to expand your book collection, because Sarah. J Maas has dropped a mega announcement. In a recent Instagram post, Maas shared snippets of celebrating her completed drafts for ACOTAR books 6-8. The American author, best known for her Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Crescent City series, rose to fame in the past few years. Having sold about 40 million copies of her work, Maas has become a phenomenon in the “romantasy” genre.
What is ACOTAR?
A Court of Thorns and Roses, also known as ACOTAR, is a fantasy novel that follows the story of Feyre Archeron, a nineteen-year-old human. After she kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature demands repayment for the death of his friend. Dragged into an entirely new world, Feyre experiences romance and magic along her journey. Feyre comes to find that the creature she must now live with is not a beast at all, but one of the Fae, magical beings she’d only ever heard about. When a dark shadow threatens the faerie-lands, Feyre has to decide if she will stop it or doom both Tamlin and the Fae.
What Can Readers Expect For Upcoming Books?
Though Maas hasn’t revealed the plots for ACOTAR books 6-8, readers have several theories about where Feyre’s journey will continue. For one, many readers anticipate that Maas will focus more on Feyre’s sister, Elain Archeron, and her own story. The previous installment in the series, A Court of Silver Flames, revolved around Nesta Archeron, the eldest of the three sisters. Naturally, fans have been speculating the third and final Archeron is going to be getting her own book after her other sisters, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
As readers suspect what Maas will have in store for Elain, many are crossing their fingers for the soft-spoken Archeron sister to end up with Azriel, one of her two possible love interests. Fans of Lucien, her mate, are rooting for the tension between the two to finally melt away. There’s even been some speculation that Tamlin—yes, that Tamlin—is going to be the one to end up with Elain (though a lot of readers are hoping that isn’t the case).
If the upcoming books are about Elain, then there’s one question left, ACOTAR readers: team Azriel or team Lucien?
