Black Experience on Xfinity and 300 Studios celebrated the premiere of their new three-part docuseries, In Our DNA: Hip House. The star-studded black carpet event took place at the historic Vic Theatre in Chicago. This highly anticipated series explores the birth, evolution, and collision of Hip Hop and House music.
The premiere was followed by a panel discussion. The discussion featured Terry Hunter, a producer nominated for 3 GRAMMYs. It also featured Eric Welton, a DJ and producer from Chicago known as Emmaculate. Nolan Baynes, the General Manager of 300 Studios, and Keesha Boyd also participated. Kelly G., the Head of Creative Content Strategy at 300 Entertainment, moderated the discussion.
They talked about the birth and evolution of Hip Hop and House music. They also discussed how the two genres have fused together and the lasting impact fusion has had on contemporary music.
The event reached its peak with a tribute to music legends Fast Eddie, Sundance, White Knight, and The Frankie Knuckles Foundation.
Terry Hunter, Kelly G., and Eric Welton led the tribute. Chicago’s own Fast Eddie, Sundance, and Mike Dunn surprised the crowd with performances. The celebration ended with a high-energy mashup of hip-house music by Kelly G., Emmaculate, and Terry Hunter.

In Our DNA: Hip House premiered on Thursday, December 7th on the Black Experience on Xfinity channel. The Black Experience is a unique channel that focuses on Black entertainment and showcases the best Black storytelling.
