We have updates on Lola Young after her collapse during a performance last fall. Young gives details in an interview with The Times UK.
What Lola Says
Young starts by saying, “Um, so yeah, I think I would rather for the sake of my privacy not say too much,” she replies vaguely. “But what I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a hell of a lot better.” What type of recovery is she discussing? “I mean drugs recovery, yes. When you’re in recovery… that doesn’t necessarily need to mean drugs- but me specifically, yes.”

The singer also shared that she now regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings.
Why This Came About
All this information comes six months after she collapsed while performing “Conceited” at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City in September. It was a few moments later that a medical team carried her off stage. Three days later, Young canceled all of her future tour dates and appearances.
Young also spoke to Rolling Stone in March, saying the incident “was a wake-up call.”
She describes her appreciation for the moment. “I am very grateful that it happened because it was, what do you call that? Like, a breaking point which allowed me to then be able to be here today, allowed me to be better for my fans, better for the future, and better for myself.”

Young continued, “It was a decision, like I said, that I had to make, and it was sad that I had to do that. What else was I going to do, die? That was the reality of where my addiction was heading.”
The “Messy” singer has been open about her cocaine addiction in the past and, according to The Times UK, has been to rehab twice.
“There were a lot of things going on for me personally- I was going through a lot of mental health issues, a lot of battling with addiction,” Young said to the outlet.
Her Win and Her Message
She performed “Messy” at the 2026 Grammys, and it was her first sighting since the fall. She went on to win Best Pop Solo Performance. Young then performed her first headline show at the London Palladium on March 4 and will be touring the U.K. in June.
She concludes, “I am now in a position where I can do things I couldn’t have done before. Doing it slower, more intentionally, but doing it in a way I feel is good for me.”

To those in recovery, Young shared a message. “This is an ongoing journey. You have to be kind to yourself. You have to always remember that you are not alone. You are not ever, ever alone.”
We are very glad to hear Young is doing better and on the road to recovery. It can be a challenging road to drive on. We can’t wait to see what she does next with that strong voice of hers.
