Lady Gaga’s new rock-infused single “Disease” released on Oct. 25. For longtime fans of the artist, this single is a welcome return to Lady Gaga’s classic sound.
After a long hiatus from making music, Gaga released partner album Harlequin, which featured covers like “That’s Life” and “Get Happy (2024)” from her new film Joker: Folie a Deux. Though fans were thrilled to hear the star’s new music, it only featured two original songs, “Folie a Deux” and “Happy Mistake,” leaving many fans disappointed.
Since 2020’s Chromatica, Gaga has not released new music, mainly due to her two-year “Jazz and Piano” Vegas residency. Gaga’s genre-bending sound has allowed her to explore many music styles, including rock, pop, jazz and even country with 2016’s Joanne. However, her return to pop-rock with “Disease” is a welcome one, reminiscent of her earlier releases “Born this Way” and “The Fame Monster.”
So far, the single is occupying the number one spot on the top 40, knocking off “Die With A Smile,” Gaga and Bruno Mars’ recent duet. The star now occupies the top two spots.

Since the song’s release, Gaga has expressed appreciation for her fan’s embrace of the new single.
“I have been so excited to release my new music and to see all the monsters come alive and dance and perform and smile and cry is such an insane joy,” Gaga wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend.
“I’m so grateful and overwhelmed at your love for Disease,” Gaga continued, “Keep dancing. There’s a LOT more to come.”
At the end of the post, the star added “also…happy Halloween,” causing fans to speculate on whether Gaga would be releasing new music on the holiday. Confirming fan speculation, Gaga announced the release of the “Disease” music video, which released on October 29 along with a live Vegas performance of “Die with a Smile.”
The song features Gaga’s classic sound, chalk with over-production and pop perfection. “Disease” is believed to be the lead track for Gaga’s upcoming studio album, which is due to be released in the Spring of 2025.
For fans of Gaga, “Disease” marks an epic return to the style that brought her fame in the early 2000s.
