Kehlani Faces Harsh Scrutiny After Hard Launching Relationship With British Singer, KWN

Kehlani and British rapper-singer KWN announced their relationship in the way most couples do in the 21st Century — on social media. Rumors began circulating of the two after their collaboration on KWN’s song “worst behavior.” In the video they shared a passionate kiss, intensifying speculation.

In now-deleted TikTok videos, the couple individually uploaded videos of the two, seemingly confirming their relationship. One video shows the “Folded” singer laying her head on KWN’s shoulder.

Both videos have been deleted, possibly due to the invasive comments regarding their past relationships. Some of the responses to their relationship has slight misogynistic undertones, mainly towards Kehlani.

Kehlani was rumored to have been dating many different artists and athletes over the years and was blamed for them ending. While she hasn’t confirmed most rumors, the lack of denial only added fuel to the fire. The rumors began in 2016 when rumors spread that she cheated on her boyfriend Kyrie Irving with the Toronto-based artist, PARTYNEXTDOOR.

The result of the internet’s scrutiny towards the singer was a suicide attempt. Irving denied rumors in a lengthy Instagram post which managed to calm down the hate, but ultimately served as a lesson to be careful of how you interact with people on social media.

KWN’s Response

While some comments can be excused as an internet joke, others have gotten out of hand. In a four-minute video, KWN addresses the backlash:

“I know the internet is a dark place but it’s dark over here. I’m not trying to build an audience of rude, weird, and entitled people. It’s disgusting and I don’t stand for it. Not one piece. When I met K, she was very much single. I don’t know what timeline you lot think you’re piecing together, but it’s wrong,” the “do what I say” singer says.
