Hold onto your jeans, because GAP just dropped an ad with girl group KATSEYE. The ad, featuring KATSEYE, showcases the girls dancing to “Milkshake,” by American singer and songwriter Kelis. Accumulating almost 7 million views on YouTube, the GAP ad has successfully taken denim marketing to an entirely new (and undeniably catchy) musical level! Who doesn’t want to be dancing to throwbacks in a pair of hot jeans? Beware, because KATSEYE is sure to make you run to your local GAP for some serious denim.
All About Katseye Being “Better in Denim.”
Following the controversial jeans ad with Sydney Sweeney, the fashion brand made a comeback with its ultra-hot denim ad featuring rising girl group KATSEYE. Denim tops, denim skirts, denim jeans—KATSEYE styled all of GAP’s pieces in jaw-droppingly different ways. While the girl group showcased the hot denim, viewers can’t help but nod along to “Milkshake.” GAP’s inclusion of the song was not only a trendy touch but a clever move. Throughout the ad, the lyrics “Better than yours,” also refer to the jeans worn by the girl group. Hence the ad’s name: “Better in Denim.”
Who Are These Denim-Wearing Queens?

After watching the ad that continues to go viral, many couldn’t help but rush to social media to find out who these iconic denim-wearing girls were. Based in Los Angeles, the girl group was created by American label Geffen Records and South Korean entertainment company HYBE. Made up of six members from the Philippines, South Korea, the United States, and Switzerland, KATSEYE adds an unconventional yet refreshing twist on traditional pop girl groups.
Unsurprisingly, their international appeal gained global attention and fans like wildfire. Their most popular song, “Gabriela,” has taken to social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram with an unparalleled frenzy. Not only are the group’s vocals something to be raving about, so is their style! Often seen in street fashion, preppy looks, or edgy designs, KATSEYE made for the perfect style icons in the GAP ad.

All in all, what viewers have taken away from KATSEYE’s GAP debut is both fashion and pop music related. Will we be running to the store to purchase a few denim mini-skirts? Maybe. Are we going to be giving KATSEYE’s music a listen? Probably. Both? Highly likely. I wouldn’t put it past you if “Milkshake” is on a continuous loop in your head, either.
