One of the most popular goals for the new year is working out and going to the gym. However, the gym can be intimidating and crowded. My college gym is always taken over by the athletes and it’s nerve racking being a beginner. Working out at home is a great accessible and cost friendly way to keep in shape. Here are some YouTube workouts you can do from the comfort of your home.
Tae Bo
Billy Blanks has been posting his Tae Bo workouts on YouTube since 2014. Tae Bo was developed by Blanks and is a mixture of taekwondo and boxing. He demonstrates the moves slowly first, then pick up the pace. His channel has numerous playlist for different types of workouts. While some of his videos are fast pace with little breaks, always pause when you need a break.
Yoga With Adriene
Yoga is considered a low-impact workout that helps with strength, balance, and flexibility. Known for her beginner friendly videos, Yoga With Adriene offers diverse and easy yoga videos. Her videos range from 5 to 40 minutes. This is great for quick sessions when your busy. She offers over 800 yoga videos that only require you and a mat!
MadFit
MadFit started her channel back in 2018 to inspire people to reach their workout goals at home. Some of her videos include cardio aerobics to songs, full body warm ups, and quick workouts with no equipment. They are also very short, so you can do them whenever you have free time. These dance workouts are super fun and make you lose track of time. She also has an app to keep track of what workouts you have done and your progress.
Caroline Girvan
A certified personal trainer, Caroline Girvan started her journey in 2020 with her dumbbells at home. He FUEL series of workouts is a great way to manage time and progress. Each day is a different workout to make sure you are hitting all your muscles. Her videos range from 30 to 45 minutes, so make sure to keep your water bottle close by!
What’s Next?

Five Below has great options for cost efficient yoga mats and weights you can buy. You don’t have to recreate a whole gym at your home. Just make sure you have enough to do what you want. Even when working out at home, make sure you have a dedicated time and space for your workouts. This will keep you motivated to continue those home workouts. The biggest step to achieving your goals is making the decision to start, which I know you all can do!
