Later in 2025: Remakes, Sequels, and Surprises
The rest of 2025 is packed with major titles to anticipate in the gaming world:
- Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater
- Silent Hill f
- Ghost of Yōtei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Summer 2025 Game Fest
Summer Game Fest complemented Sony’s showcase with a few bombshells of its own for 2025 games:
- Resident Evil Requiem: A bold new direction for the survival horror franchise featuring a fresh protagonist and what appears to be an open-world Raccoon City.
- Astro Bot: A whole platforming adventure showing off new mechanics and charm.
- Legend of Dragoon: Reimagined: A complete remake of the PS1 classic, answering years of fan requests.
- Until Dawn Remake: A visual and narrative overhaul of the original horror title.
- Bloodborne Remastered: A long-awaited 4K/60fps version for PS5 — but still no word on a PC release.
Sony also announced that the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 (PS1 versions) are being added to the PlayStation Plus Premium Classics Catalog this summer.
State of Unreal 2025
Epic Games’ State of Unreal 2025, held on June 3, 2025, showcased the latest advancements in Unreal Engine 5.6 and highlighted upcoming projects that fit into the game’s 2025 offerings:
- The Witcher 4: CD Projekt Red unveiled an impressive tech demo using Unreal Engine 5.6, featuring Ciri as the lead character. The demo showcased smooth transitions between cinematic scenes and gameplay, detailed animations, and ray-traced graphics at 60 frames per second on consoles. Set in Valdrest, the world dynamically utilizes real-time streaming to minimize loading times.
- Fortnite’s Persona Device: Epic introduced the Persona Device, allowing creators to design AI-driven non-playable characters (NPCs) using the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. This tool enables the customization of NPCs with specific voices, personalities, and behaviors, enhancing the game’s interactive experience.
