James DuBose is a visionary entertainment executive, producer, and entrepreneur with a passion for creating culture-shaping content. His mission is to inspire, educate, uplift, and entertain Black audiences around the globe.
He has built an impressive career spanning over two decades, producing and developing a wide range of hit television shows and films, including Dish Nation, WAGS Atlanta, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, Monica’s Still Standing, Tiny and Toya, Toya: A Family Affair, Trey Songz: My Moment and more.
In 2020, DuBose was appointed General Manager of Fox Soul, Fox’s first OTT platform dedicated to Black culture and entertainment. Under his leadership, Fox Soul quickly became one of the most popular streaming services among Black audiences, with original programming such as Cocktails with Queens, Worth a Conversation with Jeezy, and Fox Soul’s Black Report.
“Eventually the goal was to have Fox Soul be, if not majority Black owned, all the way Black owned.,” said DuBose. “What I did not want to be is be the Black face in front of this thing with people not of color pulling the strings behind me and they promised me that wasn’t going to be the case and to their credit it was absolutely that for the most part.”
That was the driving force behind James DuBose launching In The Black Network. ITBN is an advertisement-based video on demand streaming service that highlights Black voices and original stories. The platform launched in October 2023 and features a variety of content, including documentaries, dramas, comedies, and talk shows. During our interview DuBose shared with us the reason for the name In The Black Network, “I called it In The Black because I wanted it to be Black focused, Black owned, and profitable.”

DuBose is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. He believes that all voices deserve to be heard and that all stories deserve to be told. He has made it In The Black’s mission to create content that reflects the rich diversity of the Black community and to give a platform to Black artists and creators.
“We want to be a place that’s easier to get through the greenlight process,” stated DuBose. “There’s too many talented creators in our culture that don’t get their voices or vision seen”
DuBose’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in the work he does. He has also made a point of telling stories that reflect the diversity of the Black community, from the everyday experiences of Black families to the social and political issues that affect Black people around the world.
